Hello Peeps on Steemit
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for visiting my post.
As they say you have to start somewhere so here I am dutchie65 here on Steemit or DJ Julz in my world as a professional wedding DJ / MC right here in Brisbane Australia down under in Gods country here.
I thought I will start with my profession as a Wedding DJ /MC I also do special events and parties as well. Although however I have several other qualified hats that I wear or have worn in my past history. But for now I would like to talk to you about Wedding DJ's, so with your permission and time I will do my best to share and convey my thoughts so sit back relax and hopefully you have a coffee handy.
CHARITY & SPECIAL EVENTS
Hopefully it will be informative and interesting with insight to how it all works. The above picture is me paying it forward helping out for a charity fun bike ride to Conquer Cancer Benefit sponsored by Rio Tinto mining company, what a great day mixing retro and top 40 hits of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and all the way to modern top 40 where everybody enjoyed themselves.
Amazingly I even had people dancing without a care in their cyclist sports wear. The Crowd loved the one hit wonders of the 80's Tainted Love by Soft Cell, My Sharona by The Knack, Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield just to name a few. Then there's the classic Money for Nothing by Dire Straits you got to love that.
I was a little worried about pumping out the music being out in the open you need to have a big powerful amplifier, so I had 2 Crown XTi 4000 Power amps which did the job. The power was from my large 12 volt dc to 240 volt ac inverted power supply in my van which I had to run the engine right through the day to keep the batteries charged.
My Super DJ sound rig with its big 2 x 18 inch subs a 15 inch sub and 2 x 12 inch mid range tops pumped the sound out there in an open field all in all around 6000 watts RMS of great sound mixing away the tunes with everyone grooving and moving, I enjoyed every minute of the day.
WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT
Weddings are very enjoyable a DJ can make or break a wedding we are responsible for 85% to 90% for the success of any wedding event so there is quite a bit of responsibility involved. Helping a married couple make their day special is very satisfying indeed, it kind of feels like a high for me and a lot of wedding DJ's will agree and testify to that.
Great professional sound is very important easy listening dinner music at first and then the party dance numbers after the 1st Bridal Dance. Speaking of which the formal songs are very important as well for example they will highlight the important captured moments
Bridal Party Entry Song
Cake Cutting
1 st Bridal Dance
Father & Daughter Dance
Mother & Son Dance
Bouquet Toss
Garter Throw
Farewell Songs to finish the night
Creating an atmosphere during dinner and then a high energy dance floor filler is very important to a DJ its how we gauge or measure the success of the night, we seem to have the ability to read the crowd.
During the party we mix three of the same type of genre song into another BPM ( beats per minute) and then flow into another genre with a breaker song that mixes well into the next type of music. Making it flow smoothly is very important you don't want to make it sound like a dogs breakfast.
The Music has to be right for the moment and the demographic on who is on the dance floor
How about LED up lights creating ambiance and setting the mood with great music
Soft mood lights are always a great way to create an atmosphere
Don't forget the Party Lights
Just a few Pictures of our gigs, I hope you enjoyed the above pictures and tutorial with a little insight on how DJ's roll.
Being my first post I hope to improve in time and bring you more tutorials on this and many other subjects that interest me and hopefully make your day.
