I sat for a while, thought hard, wrote something down, erased and eventually came up with this while thinking of where to start this piece and it's content as I hope it would be quite enlightening as well as entertaining with less controversy without making the men feel insecure about us.
We live in a society where so much emphasis is placed on the woman being the weaker vessel and to a large extent, it's taken out of context!
According to scriptural writings, women were made from man by the Almighty and the words 'weaker vessels' was actually used in referring to the woman (as a wife by Peter and Paul), this leads to my question, who is a weaker vessel?
A weaker vessel as used in this context means that the men are also weak vessels but the women are only just weaker, but are women actually weaker?
It is imperative to note that the society today only refers to women as the weaker vessel by men in a bid to limit their progress in certain fields, make them feel inferior or cheat them out of opportunities. In reality, women have proven more than once in various different fields of endeavour that they are far beyond breasts and vagina, that they can equally be goal oriented, successful and above all, "INDEPENDENT OFF ANY MAN THAT WISHES TO REFER TO THEM AS A WEAKER VESSEL"!
Personally, I would like to state here that women being referred to as weaker vessels is a case of Indiscrimination against women and of course, that was the beginning of gender discrimination. It's a case of insubordination by men against women because you really cannot hold a woman down in her field of endeavour but you can actually shut a man down. This is not in any way trying to belittle men as they can be really brave and firm, but is there a woman out there that isn't brave? Every single woman is an embodiment of bravery and strength, the same cannot be said for men as men today are actually more chicken hearted than the female counterparts, who then is a weaker vessel?
Taking a quick look at the male folk, what really do they offer to the home? What do they offer the society? Men are often being referred to as the head of the home and with the crash of most homes, could it be safe to say the male folk has failed? With the steady collapse of the societal standards and values with men at the helm of affairs, is it okay to say the 'stronger vessel' has failed us all? A wise man once said 'women are the cause of their own problems because they think they're equal to men, they are head above heels better than men', take note, an experienced elderly man made that statement. What more proof do we need to know who the 'new' weaker vessels are?

Well my answerbis both are weak.
The woman is weak on the outside but very strong on the inside, while men are strong on the outside, but weak on the inside. That's why they are to complement each other.

You have a good point up there. When i see write up like yours, i ask: would she have written it in another way if she was a guy ? Without saying the female folks are weaker, it is important to note that emotions in most cases take over their judgment (my personal opinion).
It is just 'unfortunate' that African women are seen as been inferior. The African man have this patriarchal view that he must dominate at all cost and do everything possible to break his woman.
A collapsed home cannot be said to be a problem of the man nor the woman but it based on either misunderstanding or one of them is tired and chose the 'funny' way.
Whichever way you want to look at it, we are responsible for the kind of 'woman' we create (both man and woman).

If you ask me i will say God knows how domineering men could be, he knows some could be difficult to deal with, so in saying that women are weaker vessels, i always believe God said that to let them treat women kndly and with care. Is there anything a man can do that a woman cant do better? As a wife, travel for just a weekend and leave all house chores and three little kids for your husband, without a house help.You will see how your house will be when you return, that is if he even allows you to leave.So who is weak?who is weaker?well done sister

I think this notion needs to be re-visited on a
world wide scale since women are clamoring for
gender equality and such ,apart from that i think
women tend to ride on the fact that the society
at large tends to favor and support the purported
" weaker vessel " more when such a situation
arises ,and this has given a lot of women the
opportunity to abuse a man physically & verbally
and would easily get away with it especially in
the Western societies . my opinion

Its all depends on the mind set... The statement come from those feeling superior and accepted by those of less mind. Biblically women are created to be weaker physically by stronger mentally
