Back in the times when flickr was still the most popular photo sharing platform there was a group called Waterfall Wednesday, where we would post high quality waterfall photos on Wednesdays. The group dates back until 2009 and for me as a huge fan of waterfalls it was a great source of inspiration.
A few of the waterfalls I got to know through the photos posted in this group I have since photographed myself. Now I’d like to bring this inspiration over to Steemit.
I actually don’t know, if this will work and obviously there’s no way to moderate it as in the flickr group. But let’s give it a try it anyways.
To participate in the Waterfall Wednesday do the following:
- Create a post featuring a photo where a waterfall is the primary subject and share some information about it - you could also pin it to the Steemit World Map. And it doesn’t need to be a large waterfall, smaller cascades are welcome too
- Only post on Wednesdays - this will require everyone’s honesty
- Use the tag #waterfallwednesday
- And to create some sense of community, I suggest after posting a photo, to browse through the other submissions of the day and to up-vote at least three posts you like. Also, I would only award photos posted on Wednesdays to encourage people to stick to the rules
The idea behind having those submissions just on Wednesdays is obvious. Every participant has more time to select his or her best work. And the work will be visible for a longer time. Posting once a week also fits nicely with the voting phase here on Steemit.
Krimml
But enough talk. It’s time to start and I’ll do so with one of Europe’s highest waterfalls, the Krimml Cascade in Austria.
I already featured it in my article about 7 amazing waterfalls around the world here on Steemit. And for good reason. The Krimml waterfall consists of several huge tiers, which together equate to a total drop of 380 meters. There’s a trail starting at the bottom of the waterfall and going right up to the top with many viewing platforms along the way. It’s a spectacular sight, especially in early summer when the ice of the glacier up in the mountains melts and turns the river into a roaring stream.
My favorite cascade is the first one, which I show you here. With the river as foreground and trees to each side it’s an easy subject to photograph. And the best time to do so is in the morning, when the light filters through the trees.
And now it’s time for you to upload your waterfall photos. If you want, you can also share your posts in the comments below.
And don’t forget to resteem this post to get more people to participate in the #waterfallwednesday. !steemitworldmap 47.208328 lat 12.170150 long Krimml Waterfall D3SCR
Great idea! Wish you good luck with #waterfallwednesday
I guess it will take some time till others will use that tag. If you have some waterfall photos, you can be one of the first still :-)
