Hunt for progress

in #watercolor7 years ago

Watercolor/ink heart

He laid on the floor. Pencils, pens, brushes, color diffused water jars and ink stained cloths in perfect chaos within arms length. What a mess you thought, but you saw him. Hands, clothes and even his face covered with graphite and paint. He bit his lower lip in concentration of an attempt of perfect line and one simple dot in the exact right spot. He was not aware of your observations completely immersed in world of imagination and hunt for the right shapes, tones and compositions.

How can it be? How can you act exactly the same way as he once did?

Hunt for progress in progress. I know it won’t always work out as smoothly. We all have days when energy and vision aligns creating perfect result and days when everything you touch becomes complete nonsense thrown in the bin. That will not slow me down.

Song of the day: Danger - 11:03
Thought of the day: You know when it’s right
Tiny happiness of the day: More energy finally ^^

Ah this must be the painting you talked about yesterday!

Very nice! Was this shot in natural lightning? Because it does look pretty well without any yellow tint.

Thank you @beercake! ^^

Yes. Since I don't have scanner at home, which of course might be the best way to get the images, I use natural light. I have tried artificial light before, but that way some details just disappear. Dots would become less visible or if I use flash again some colors change and just look wrong to me.

Well scanner/printers are pretty damn cheap these days. Decent Cannon ones for example can go as low as 50euros.
BUT, but there is a "but"! If you scanned your works it would be great for preservation but not for displaying them. You would lose that natural vignette you have here which makes it look all the more nicer and of course the depth of field blur.

Agreed.

I have actually never tried to scan watercolor before, I wonder what it would do to it. I will experiment with that just to see, but I agree with the "but". Hehe

Such an Artist!

Thank you for compliment. I feel so very much far from it still.

Really beautiful painting and words... Both irradiate so much poetry. It is so true, I have been there so many times... I like how they call it in sports: the zone, those moments when everything just flow, letters, moves, brushes... Very sublime and subtle post, loved it!

Thank you @ficciones :)

I appreciate moments like that a lot, because I know that they are precious and won't always happen. I love disappearing in the zone

@m31, you can act like him because it's that invisible line in us that connects us with them :)

For me it is very strange, because I never really got to know him and it is interesting to see others so surprised for things that I am unaware of myself.

Thank you for you support @jungwatercolor :)

We are their copies, and mostly we are not aware of it :)

Beautiful... resteemed for visibility!

Thank you so much @sirlordboss! ^^ Your support is much appreciated.

Love this! <3

Thank you so much @polebird! ^^

How can you act exactly the same way as he once did?

There is Nurture and Nature. Nature plays a big part but it is not the only part.

True. That must be strange to witness though. Do you see yourself or your wife in your daughter?

wow it looks absolutely stunning ! i love how you used different materials that compliment each other and the dots as shadows instead of lines makes it softer. I actually just begin using watercolors and you gave me a lot of ideas thank you ! :)

Thank you so much @nessyquel :) I did some pieces before with lines, but somehow I prefer softer look as well.

I am glad this gave you ideas and I hope you create something fun ^^

Cool work! :) Did you remember the anatomy by heart or did you have an example?

Thank you @markos86! I wish I had photographic memory. That would have made studying so much more easy. Did you know that Elon Musk has photographic memory. He read heaps of books about rockets and did not know anything about them at the beginning. I looked at heart images before I began :)

Great artwork you did there m31! 😀

Thank you Andy! ^^

Beautiful work, such clean lines. I may be a little inspired to break out some paints now.

Thank you so much @luthvarian! Oh and you totally should. Would love to see some paint from you! :)

Ayyy, so this is the famous water color art you talked about :D I really like the softness of the edges, combined with the very precise dots. What did you use for the dots?
The paper seems nice as well. We have this awesome art supply store near Strøget in Copenhagen. They have an amazing paper section, with everything you could ever want. Unfortunately, it won't be much more than browsing for now, as they are pretty dang expensive :) One day though....

Hey Emil! Thank you for your comment :)

The famous? Not really. I just really enjoy this medium and like to experiment with it. I am trying to find my signature look with it. If it makes sense.

I used Artline 0.3 black ink pen for dots.

Paper I found at tiny art supply store in my city. I love the texture of it and it is also a little thicker one and takes punishment better as well.

Semi-talked about at least then. It does make sense, and i think you're getting there. I've never really worked with watercolors, but they seem to blend really nicely together, especially on that type of paper you've found. It soaks it up in a really nice way.
I think you should definetely continue working with the combination of watercolor and ink pens, they seem to have a really cool contrast. It kinda reminds me of some of the stuff that that guy peterdraws, on youtube, does. He utilizes a really nice mix of methods as well.

Definitely do more updates on your art in the future, it's nice to see :)

Looks really nice :) good job!

Yay! Thank you @strawhat ^^ I am really happy how it turned out.

Creative artwork good job by posting this keep it up, hope to see more artworks from you! =)

The heart needs to beat.

Lovely work @m31. Love the color choices - job well done.

Nice job! :) I like how you use dots in your work.

Imperfection or even failure is part of progress, so nothing should ever slow you down. Beautifully written and drawn. :)

Love it! I want to cover myself in paint and immerse myself in a creation. Its been too long :) Thanks for letting me into your experience!

Such powerful words and painting! And the second paragraph is so inspiring! I know the feeling of nothing turning out as it had to but it's the willingness to continue forward that it's important!
