6 Reasons why you should drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up.
Really! drinking a full 16oz glass of water as soon as you wakr up has its benefits and we share some of them with you today right here!
What happens if you don’t drink any water at all for the next 8 hrs? Basically your throat becomes dry and rusty, right? that is what happens while you sleep at night you don’t drink any water obviously because you are resting… so, your whole body becomes dehydrated because there is no intake of fluids during all that time so you wake up with a dry mouth and feel super parches pretty much.
Hopefully you are still drinking a lot of water during the day which really is essential for good health, we can’t even imagine how our body sufres without enough water intake. Now, there is something awesome about drinking a full 16oz glass of water every day first thing in the morning, pet’s say you wake up and before you even grab you cellphone (which is the first thing almost everyone in this world does…) you go and drink a full glass of the most precios resource this earth can give us “water”.
I will share with you some of the reason why this is a great habit to have!
- It Will Re-hydrate You
Since your body dehydrates after 8 hours of sleep with no water, it will help you increase the flow of oxygen and kids in the production of muscle and blood cells. Production of muscle yo say? yes, but that’s a tópic for another day… pet’s keep going.
- It Will Jumpstart Your Metabolism
So, about 16oz of cold water is what you should do in the morning when you wake up it will boost you body’s metabolism which can help you too in maintaining a healthy weight, this will boost your metabolism by a about a 24% which is really a lot.
- Water Helps Your Body Get Toxins Out Of It.
This is Essential and a very important part of the whole healthy thing, When you drink water in the morning before eating, you help to purify your colon (a clean colon prevents chances of getting colon cancer) , allowes nutrients to be absorbed more easily. Another essential point is that Your kidneys also work better when you’re getting enough fluids. I can tell you by experience this is huge… my dad have to do Dialysis for the rest of his life due to this… which would have been solved drinking more water through out his whole life pretty much…
- Your Brain Tissue is 76% Water
When you’re dehydrated, your brain is operating on low fuel. This can cause you to feel tired, drained, may lead to headaches, and you may even experience mood fluctuations.
Here’s a fun fact; your brain is 75% water. If you’ve been drinking enough of it, you will know that without water your brain is not going to función at its optimas level.
A morning glass of water will leave you feeling sharp and clear throughout the day, giving you an edge over all the dehydrated zombies you’ll encounter.
- You’ll Stay Full Longer
Water helps to fill your stomach. Drinking a big glass of water in the morning, and before meals, can help you to eat less, and avoid over-eating. Drinking water in the morning before breakfast will leave you feeling full until lunch, and help you to avoid mid-day snacking.
- Keeps you regular & relieves constipation
The main cause of constipation is dehydration.
Drinking water when you wake up will not only cure dehydration but it will help relieve constipation, help to keep you regular and promote a morning bowel movement. This is a great way to start the day.
Just another last tip!
You should wait at least 15 minutes after drinking your water to eat. The optimal length in Japanese culture is to wait 45 minutes until eating. The “exact protocol” of the Japanese water cure is as followed:
As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth (don’t read into this), drink 4 × 160mL glasses of water
Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes
After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.
After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours – i.e. you can drink straight after a meal (within the first 15 minutes) but not for 2 hours after that.
Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

Some people will come out saying blah blah blah… but you know what? who cares? we all must do whatever it takes to be healthy and whatever is good for us and our families so here is a “fact” for you the Japanese have the most longevity as a nation. There is currently over 50,000 100+ year old Japanese people. They must be doing something right.
So, think and be wise! use what you learn and apply it! at the end of the day you and only you will see the results and then nobody can say it doesn’t work right?
