Rainwater Tanks.

in #water7 years ago

Water is a precious commodity. In the Southern Queensland Outback where drought seems to be more common these days, every rain event is a chance to collect more water. On this house, rainwater is used in the Shower and Kitchen. Bore water is used to flush the toilet. Here we see two large water tanks which collect water from the house. There is an electric pump to circulate the water in the house. These tanks are around 15,000 litres and 7000 litres in capacity.Nikon 011.JPG.

Nice one

Collecting rainwater is actually illegal in many areas of the US... and I'm not sure why. To me it's being more sustainable and ensuring that we don't deplete our resources.

Yeah i understand that the government owns all water there. It can only be a bad thing, because they want to control the population through control of essential resources. That's scary !

It is scary :/ some people have small garden barrels but if we were able to legally have big tanks like this we could be much closer to sustainability

Maybe you should look into bladder type tanks. They're like bags that hold water, can be installed outside under a false floor on the patio.

pretty good ideas for drought areas and quite effective.

@ctrl-alt-nwo,
Yeah water is a precious commodity! And also I could see your farm is at a dry zone. So, water is precious! Great photography and thank you very much for sharing such great experiences with us!

Cheers~

A very successful program. @ctrl-alt-nwo

Getting your own water from the rain, for free... It seems so normal, yet it ain't these days...

this looks very beautiful too :)

interestig and simple technology, i like it

Great Capacity these tanks have amazing

They do this on Islands like Bermuda. I think they use certain tiles and paint for the roofs.

nice one..we also have these rain water harvesting tanks in the dry zone of our country..they are very useful to the people :)

Beautiful..

Wow in belgium we place them under the ground. But i think averange tanks here are around 9000 liters :)

We need a rain water tank here as well. Have to use water filters to remove chlorine and fluoride etc. 🦋
