This was Ajibola Afis' advice to a colleague of his that was transferred to Warri. This is one of the many negative notion people have about Warri.
Warri is a place that has one of the best hospitality and natural resources. This makes the town have a lot of strangers from neighbouring states which contribute to the development of the town.
It is one of, or the only town in Nigeria that people don’t speak the local language as their lingua franca, instead a well polished Warri pidgin English is used as their major way means of communication.
The natives of the land are majorly the Urhobo speaking people while the Ijaws and Itsekiris are dominant in the hinterland. The Urhobos are found in the heart of the town.

‘Many people dey misjudged Warri especially those people when never enter Warri or even meet real Warri person.

“WARRI NOR DEY CARRY LAST “ na the slogan when dem dey take know real AREA(Warri child ).
It’s not a slogan of mischief or dubiousness but a term to imbibe the consciousness of mental alertness and ability to think on our feet, and make u want to put in ur best in anything you are doing.
This is why every one from Delta state always want to claim to be a Warri child because the name Warri brings respect and honour.

Without Warri, entertainment is zero in Nigeria because raw talent in all fields are harvested every day in the streets.
The comedians; Ali Baba (Grand comedian Federal Republic ), I go die, AY, I go save, Igos, Gandoki etc.,
Musicians Oritse Femi,Yung6ix,Harry song, Omawumi TJhays, Efe BBC etc.
Sports:Oghene Karoo Etebo,Fegor Ogunde,Blessing Okagbare (commonwealth 100 metres champion), Ese Brume (long jump ) The Adagbas brothers (Boxers )etc.

There are also some good hotels in Warri that can measure up with top hotels in the world. These include : Hotel Excel Golden Tulip, Protea hotel, Sir of hotel, TM Hotel and others.
Due to the high level of awareness obsessed by people, they try as much as possible to make everything the best of quality. The hotels are standard, their mode of operations are classics, the quality of materials used are trusted and they strive to meet the standard or quality seen in other places like Abuja and Port-Harcourt.

A modern shopping mall known as 'The Delta Mall' was built in the entrance of the town to meet up with the high level of awareness of the the people. Shoprite and other quality super market, fast food, modern cinema, clubs, eateries etc are in the mall.
Just to prove that WARRI NOR DEY CARRY LAST, night life in Warri has its own good and bad side, just like every other major cities and towns in the world. Warri can sometimes be rough at night, it will be adviseable for visitors who want to go out at night to be accompanied by someone who knows the nooks and crannies of the town. Most of the hang outs, hotels, bars, clubs and sit-out are majorly patronised between sundown and midnight.

The Warri people are one of the best dressed set of people. The young men and women dress as if everyday is Christmas. One may think they are in competition with each other because they believe that “looking good is good business” they have good sense of colour combinations and fabrics selection. Traditionally the Warri attire is a blouse of lace textile and a set of wrappers for the woman while the men wear long blouse and wrapper.
The dominant traditional food eaten in Warri are :Owo Soup and starch, banga soup with eba or starch.
All in all, Warri is definitely one of the best places to be in Nigeria!
