Just War Theory

There are however some requirements for a war to be considered just. So, is Israel's war just? Not if you ask me. Let's start at the top, is the war for a just cause? maaaaybe? If you think it's for freeing the hostages and securing Israel against a radical enemy, then yes. I would consider it so, as Hamas is a very real threat if left alone. Second point- yeah it is. Third, I would argue that it isn't. Israel isn't continuing the war to destroy hamas, I see it as more likely to be a political maneuver in a good case, at worst a plot to destroy as much as possible in gaza to leave these people either dead or impoverished. Accusations of genocide, even by experts who looked into the topic and concluded it was for example, wouldn't be a thing without intent as intent to commit genocide is one of the requirements of something being considered a genocide. Fourth, They haven't, Israel has been very resistant to finding permanent solutions in the past, and remain so to this day. fifth, Is there? Sure that may have been the thinking initially, but any illusion of rooting out Hamas has long passed, so this one no longer counts. Sixth, not at all. Israel is not even trying to be proportional in it's warfare. This war isn't even close to just, so even if people didn't forget October 7th, but when Israel is being so unjust that even people who don't care for politics react, something needs to be done.
