I love this! I got one of those messages recently and it was annoying. There are other ways to promote content, Like...

  • The Steemit.chat Like you said
  • Other social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Quora, Instagram.
  • Youtube
  • "Ping" it on google
  • Send your article to your email list.
  • Focus on leaving high quality comments and help promote others content, You'll gain more followers and you could get the exposure you want.

    Propose to feature on other authors' blog. There are at least three popular ones who let others to feature: @jacor, @dragonslayer109 and @gavvet. Great guys. :)
