🌾 1 tablespoon plain flour
🌶️ 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Variation:

Instructions

1- Prepare the Pastry Dough:

  • Sieve 2 cups of Baking Emperor Cake Flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of Strong Better Park Curry Powder into a large PYREX mixing bowl. Mix well.
  • Add butter and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, rubbing them into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Gradually add cold ice water, mixing gently until a cohesive dough forms. Avoid overworking. Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 20 minutes.

2- Prepare the Beef Filling:

  • Heat 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil in the Tefal frying pan. Add chopped spring onions and white onions, sautéing until soft.
  • Add minced beef, breaking it up, and cook until it browns.
  • Stir in minced garlic, ginger, thyme, curry powder, paprika, beef seasoning, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add ketchup, scotch bonnet pepper, and black pepper. Cook until beef is cooked through and most liquid has evaporated.
  • Sprinkle plain flour over the beef; stir to thicken. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
  • Transfer filling to a sieve to drain excess grease. Allow to cool completely.

3- Assemble the Patties:

  • Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
  • Divide chilled dough into portions and roll each out to a thin sheet with the rolling pin.
  • Cut into circles with a round object.
  • Place a spoonful of beef filling on one half of each circle (place cheese on top if using).
  • Brush edges with milk or egg wash, fold, and seal using fingers and a fork to crimp the edges.
  • Prick the tops with a fork for steam ventilation.
  • Place patties on a lined baking tray.

4- Bake the Patties:

  • Preheat oven to Gas Mark 6 or 7 (165-180°C / 325-350°F).
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
