Ingredients

🥬 1 lb Green Beans, washed, trimmed, cut in half
🧈 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
🌰 2 Shallots, diced, or 1 large onion
🧄 5 cloves Garlic, minced
🧂 1/2 teaspoon Salt
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
🌿 1/2 teaspoon Thyme
🌶️ 1/8 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
🌾 2 tablespoons Flour
🥛 1.5 cups Heavy Cream
🥛 1 cup Milk
🧀 1 block Boursin Cheese, Garlic and Fine Herbs
🧀 1 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
🧅 2.5 cups Crispy Fried Onions


Instructions

1- Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

2- Blanch the Green Beans:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the green beans and blanch for 3 minutes.
  • Drain and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to halt cooking.
  • Drain again and set aside.

3- Prepare the Sauce:

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
  • Add the diced shallots and minced garlic; sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.

4- Season and Thicken:

  • Stir in salt, black pepper, thyme, and cayenne pepper.
  • Sprinkle the flour over and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

5- Simmer the Sauce:

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low.
  • Gradually pour in the heavy cream and milk, whisking continuously until smooth and slightly thickened.

6- Melt in the Cheese:

  • Add the Boursin cheese by breaking it apart with a spoon.
  • Whisk until it’s fully melted and smooth.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese.

7- Combine with Green Beans:

  • Fold in the blanched green beans and 1 cup of crispy fried onions.
  • Stir to coat them evenly with the sauce.

8- Assemble the Casserole:

  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • Top with the remaining crispy fried onions.

9- Bake:

  • Place in the oven, uncovered, and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Ensure the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the topping is golden brown.

10- Serve:
