"I think I need a vacation" I said to my Mom after getting out of the hospital and getting back immediately to work.
"Aren't you traveling to Abuja? Isn't that a good enough vacation?"
Laughing as hard as I could, I replied.
"Mom, you don't understand, it's a work trip. Not a vacation" I said as I left to my room to hit the bed.
It was already 11: 54 pm on the 22nd of October and I needed to rest so I could be strong for my trip to Abuja the next day. ☀
Was it really a work trip or a vacation? 🤔
This post will tell..... 😉
Going to Abuja for the very first time, I was particularly anxious.
I already rid my mind of the many thoughts that were already sprawling.
I knew it was important, I knew I had to be there. I knew we needed to make plans to make Wafrica bigger and better but what I didn't know was if I'll feel welcomed.
You see, I'm an introvert.... Urgh... A very boring one at that.
So I got scared I'll freak everyone out and not blend in but I was.........
23rd October met me in the fine city of Abuja, I had gotten a Taxify to take me to the house which was just close to Charlie Boy's Resident.
The first person to welcome me was my very revered Boss and Small Daddy, @lordjames.
He lifted me up and hugged me so close I got scared.
You see, I have always thought @lordjames was a very mean Boss. I mean, he was always strict in his dealings and I am very cautious not to step on someone's toes so I already made mental preparations ahead so I could deal amicably with him during the meet up.
Soon afterwards, big Daddy as we fondly call him @surfyogi came around too and gave me a very warm hug too, welcoming me to the home.
It was not long after I had arrived that @jeaniepearl, @phunke, @nmalove and @gbija also came in.
@prettyjules158 and @chiama were already at home and we were served a very delicious 😋🍴💓 Indomie that night and everyone retired to their rooms, or so I thought.
Waking up by 3 am, I decided to get some water only to find @lordjames, @nmalove, @phunke and @jeaniepearl chatting away.
I was perplexed....these people travelled all the way from Lagos State and they haven't slept all day.
Well, Steemians have super powers anyway. 🤷🏻♀
The rest of the days were dream for me.
I had the fun of my life that a single post alone cannot contain.
It was indeed a vacation
The next day, we had @mcsamm join us all the way from Ghana and had our first official meeting which was as fun as fun sounds 😂
In the course of our stay, we had meetings in and out of the house and we had FUN.
I got to meet the real person behind the username I was originally used to.
It was great meeting everyone and at once, a bond was created.
I can't wait to have another meet up with these amazing fam
The girls have unanimously concluded that our next meet up holds in Zanzibar
Big Daddy @surfyogi and Small Daddy @lordjames, please take note.
I got to know everyone for who they are and not the username they hear on Steemit and I am most grateful to @surfyogi for this opportunity.
Even as I write this, I am close to tears as I really miss the fun moments and the bond we created.
@chiama, the life of the party always making everywhere lively with her fun videos and jokes to make us laugh.
@lordjames, strict on the outside, calm, sweet and lovable on the inside ensuring everything goes on fine as well as caring like a Father and also a boyfriend. 😜
He just passes for both at the same time.
@mcsamm the Banku eater who said we were having "fan" when there was no fan in the house. 😜
Thanks to Wafrica, I made a Ghanaian friend.
@nmalove, the action lady. Cool, down to earth, a listener and supporter. I can't love you any less.
@jeaniepearl, the fun lady, very witty and of course a phone addict. She took pictures of almost everything possible. And oh, have you heard or seen babe pray. Damn, she dey burst my brain.
@phunke, our able chef who always ensured we were not hungry. Mother figure, quiet sometimes but calculative and caring. I love this bae.
@prettyjules158, cool, calm and collected lady.
@gbija was my room mate. So simple, easy going and inspiring in her way. It was really nice getting to know her.
And of course, @surfyogi who made this entire meet up possible. In fact, there wouldn't be Wafrica without you, and I am most grateful to you and for you for who you are and for what you've done for us and the entire Wafrica family. We love you and it was nice having you around. Thanks for the times we shared, for the bond we created and still are and for everything. We really appreciate and hope to have you around sometime soon.
And that's a wrap of the Wafrica curators meet up from Juliet's view. The introvert with the golden voice who happily came out of her shells despite her fears.
One of the things I'm grateful for is the bond we created. I only hope it lives on.
Thanks everyone. My name is @julietisrael, I am awe-mazing and I love you.
It was really an eye opener getting to know you, I've wanted to do so for long mostly because you are the WAfrica last born (you joined the team last and so we didn't get to know each other at the beginning).
I was glad we related well, you are one of my best writer, one of a few I can call at any hours of the day to deliver an article and I'll be pretty sure to have a good article ready in time.
The purpose of the meet up was the very bond making so I had to keep my army captain side in the house and come up with the human part of me which is who I truly am.
We shared so much cool memories which will always remain a part of me. I love your singing and your voice too, very captivating and I'll say keep being yourself. Shine on wherever you go and know that you have all the love you will ever need from me.
Awwn, thanks a lot for this Boss.
I sincerely appreciate these kind words
