Abaluyia is a term adopted by the elders in Kenya from 1930- 1960. This term refers to a large ethnic and linguistic group residing in Kenya and parts of Uganda.
The singular form of Abaluyia is Omuluyia that is when you're refering to one person. And when you want to refer to the language they speak, the word is Luluyia.
These East African people believe that the supreme being called Wele Xhakaba made the heavens and supported it with a pillar from falling.

Then he created a large red cockerel which stayed with him in heaven. This cockerel is the source of lightning and thunder.
When it moves its wings up and down lightning flashes. When it crows, you hear the mighty thunder.
The first man Wele Xhakaba created was called Mwambu and his wife Sela. Together they had two children Lilambo the son and Nasio his sister. The stayed in Mumbo, the place where Mwambu was created. Then they moved with their descendants to the foothills of Mount Elgon.
Wele created everything including the heavenly and water bodies as we know it today according to the beliefs of the Abaluyia in 6 days. Then he rested on the 7th day because it was a bad day.
That is why they have taboos and negative vibes regarding the number 7 to this day.
