SOME OF WEST AFRICA'S BEST CITIES TO VISIT

in #wafrica6 years ago (edited)

If there is any item you shouldn't forget, besides your International passport when next you are visiting Africa, it has to be your camera because there will be so many memories to keep. There is no doubt, whatsoever that Africa is one of the most blessed continents in the world. Ranging from non-living natural resources to living wild life, Africa has got them all. Today I will be focusing on West Africa. As much there are many cities in West Africa which are extremely beautiful and should be visited, I'd like to restrict this post to few of them in no particular order.

1. Lagos (Nigeria)

Pardon me, because I am being partial here. Being born and brought up in Lagos, Nigeria, I have decided to put Lagos first.

Although this city could make enigma give paradox a tight hugging; drive a sane man insane; make a proud man incredibly humble, yet it is arguably one of the most beautiful and busiest cities in West Africa. Being the economic capital of the country, which is dubbed as the "giant of Africa" you couldn't expect any less.

Lagos also known as the center of excellence offers different levels of fun and excitement for all classes of individuals. Having visited a couple of Nigerian cities, trust me when I say Lagos is the place to be.

With the Atlantic ocean in sight, you have options of beaches to visit, including but not limited to Tarkwa Bay beach, Eleko beach, Elegushi Royal beach, etc. If you love art and good food like yours truly, then Bogobiri, Ikoyi-Lagos is the place to be. With so many shopping malls like the very popular Ikeja shopping mall, you definitely have a place to get all those items you have always wanted to have in your possession.

You may also want to queue behind the French President, Emmanuel Macron and pay a visit to the Africa Shrine. In short, there is no dull moment in Lagos. Even the bus conductors offer some form of entertainment in their own little way. These ans so much more make it a dream destination.
2. Accra (Ghana)

Next on my list is the largest city of one of the most powerful countries in West Africa, Ghana. Although this city would never have come to mind as a tourist attraction some twenty years ago, yet it is gradually becoming a tourist attraction center, especially for lovers of arts and crafts and those who like to have a glimpse of historical monuments. A visit to The Artists Alliance Gallery will feed the eyes to its fill.

Night life in Accra is simply mind blowing. Some people practically visit Accra just to have a feel of the night life there. In addition, lovers of romantic environment would find Labadi beach very fascinating. Other places to visit are the very popular Makola market, where one would find all of Ghana's food items to make those dream delicacies.

3. Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire)

The next on my list is a country that will make English speaking folks want to learn French language by all means. Although not required, being able to communicate in French will make life in Cote d'Ivoire even more exciting. Abidjan is known to have one of the best night views in West Africa. One interesting thing about Abidjan is the amazing architectural designs of buildings such as "La Pyramide", "St. Paul Cathedral" and the many skyscrapers.

The amazing beaches and the Paris-like life style make this city one city to be visited. For lovers of wild life, the Comoe National Park where numerous wild animals can be seen living in their natural habitat is the place to visit.

Do you know of any amazing city in West Africa or do you know of any West African city that's a must visit, feel free to share with us and tell us about your most cherished memories of that city.
