Do you follow your Voting Power and how long does it take to charge up to 100%

in #votingpower7 years ago (edited)

When your Voting Power is 100% and you give a 100% upvote, it takes 2.4 hours to recharge it to 100%.

If you want to make the most of your Voting Power to earn Curation rewards or Author rewards, you should follow your Voting Power.  https://steemd.com/@yourusername

If you do not use your Voting Power when it's 100%, you lose Curation rewards.

Example: You're on Steemit and reading and commenting and not giving upvote on posts or comments will you lose Curation rewards and you will not be able to recharge your Voting Power when it's 100%

I use most of my Voting Power from 90-99% to give many a good upvote on posts and to be able to recover quickly.

I often see that there are many who do not give an upvote on a good comment, but just choose to comment on it. Well, you give upvote to the comment you liked, you also earn Curation rewards.

very good tip ;)

my VI is almost down to 60% when am done using it
I haven't gotten it up to 100% not even tonight

as for upping comment .. I'm only rewarding those that gives relevant comments, keep it real and by that I meant not those who say nice comments minutes right after I just put my post up - or those who flatter you a lot but don't bother upvoting your post - it doesn't make sense to me, why not up my post if you really like it . I don't resonate in the mentality that some gives an excuse, someone once told me I already have a lot of SP so he'd rather use his VI to upvote small accounts. That's a turn off for me, why should I grant someone with that mentality my upvote if he himself won't extend me his generosity if you know what I mean besides, just because we have more SP doesn't make us a milking cow and neither do the whales

I totally agree with you @englishtchrivy
Because we have a lot of VP, people should be able to give us an upvot if they like the post.
That they will save upvot to someone else even if they liked the post will be in the wrong sense.
Hehe, but they even want an upvote. No, we are not a milk cow

Down to 60%. You were the first to teach me that my VP was too low when I gave too much upvote long ago. Therefore, I was better informed about how to use it.
Well, I think I'm down to 80% during my competitions. I'm very glad you gave me that information about VP at the time. Have good control of it now.

Yes steemit needs more upvotes for good posts and comments. This helps everyone. Secondly, whales have a lot of voting power so they can even chose to vote with less % to save their voting power, while still givin a vote of significant value.

There are two different things @hmushtaq

Then they vote with their Vote Weight,
See the picture here

Yes that is what I meant, that whales can vote with lower vote weight to preserve their voting power.

thank you very much, have this post @xpilar
I am also one, which is often,
using voting power below 100%.
when I use voting power below 100%.
I did well.
but while waiting full voting power 100%.
really very old and old,
very boring hehehehe
but now no longer, just need at rest,

thank you for your suggestion this @ xpilar

hehe, nice to hear @sultan-aceh
Now you're doing it right and getting some rest too

hi @ arkan18

no problem, ok ...
tomorrow we meet your place sale ok
heheh

ok my friend..I was at home, not able to sleep .. ha .. ha

ok @arkan.

Enig med deg, det er sløs av VP å la den gå opp til 100%, derfor bruker min VP å være på 60% og opp over, for da kan jeg være borte fra steemit en stund uten at den går helt opp til 100%.

The Power Is In The Hands Of The People, Make Sure To Use It!

Quite right, many who do not think about it when it stands at 100% @flatman

You gave a nice thought here.
Somewhere I read we should keep our voting power always above 80% so I am following it. But don't really know the reason behind it, or is it even right or not 😛. Do you know anything about this @xpilar?

And I use steemnow to check voting power. I like it much because it only has those features I use frequently.

@katteasis It makes sense to think that your VP is charging 20% a day and with your SP it's advisable to stay between 80-100% when giving upvote, follow it and you learn how much power you'll spend on slider and how often you vote

Thank you very much for this post @xpilar!
I have this (
What can I do?

Hi @ir3k

If your Woting power is 70% and not 35% then your upvote will double.
Play a little with this one https://steemnow.com/upvotecalc.html

Nicely put!!!
@xpilar can you please do a complete analysis on How curation reward works??...When is the best time to upvote?? and all other Curation related technicalities.
I have read so many posts but non was satisfying so I thought @xpilar can always do the best explanation... So please whenever you deem necessary please do a post about it and help out your fans and other newbie steemians...
Pleasure writing to you @xabi

Hi @xabi

The time zone for posting a post is less important now than before.
Steemit users are just getting more and more and there are many time zones that can see your post and notice it when writing in English.
But content is important, must be more a picture and respond to requests as you do on your blog page.
Unfortunately, there are too many who are just looking for the money here and watch out for those who only want your voice, plagiarism / spam.

Map from Steemit FAQ
What determines how much of the curation reward goes to the author versus curators?
The rewards are allocated so that 75% of the payout goes to the author of the post/comment, and 25% goes to the curator.

Of the 25% that goes to the curator, that portion will be split between the author and the curator if the curator votes within the first 30 minutes. The split of the 25% between the author and curator during the first 30 minutes is calculated linearly based on the time the vote is cast.

If a post is upvoted the moment of posting, 100% of the curation reward goes to the author.
At 3 minutes, 90% goes to the author and 10% to the curator.
At 15 minutes it's a 50/50 split.
At 27 minutes, 10% goes to the author and 90% to the curator.
If a post is upvoted 30 min after posting, 100% of the curation reward goes to the curator.

really a very informative post. and the most interesting is in this comment that is about upvote posting, this is very good .. very useful for me new user .. maybe about this will become a material of my next posting. and I hope you do not mind ... thanks so much @xpilar ..

you're welcome @itasteemit

oa ... btw .. will the number of curate rights affect the entire amount to be voted on? for example, when we upvote a posting that is still a few in number, after that a few hours later the post that we have first upvote already amounted very high, whether the right curation we can increase? ..

Steemit FAQ
Even though your vote may not have an immediate effect, when it gets added in along with all the other votes at the end of the payout period, it can still affect the payout. It may also cause more users to vote on the post too, because they saw that you upvoted it - so your votes can have an indirect effect on the payout this way.

I mean, can the post curation rights increase for me after the amount that gives upvote after me?

I think I understand you
read
FAQ Steemit
How is the reward pool split between authors and curators?
Up to 25% of a post's payout is awarded to curators (the people who upvoted the post) as a reward for discovering the content. The other 75% is awarded to the author. If curators vote for a post within the first 30 minutes of it being created, a portion of their curation reward is added to the author payout. This portion is linear to the age of the post between 0 and 30 minutes. Therefore upvoting at 15 minutes old will donate half of your potential curation reward to the author.

oa i will learn it soon .. and thank you very much for your explanation sir .. i am very happy and amazed ... i like you

Very interesting and informative posts...nice that share this with many who currently have Big VP and to those who will have Big VP..
This post very informative.

In term of upvote: you are right you upvoted bunches of comments during the competition and give good vote to those who deserves it...

useful information about voting power thanks

Great post @xpilar thank for share this.. for upcoming people's..

how much upvote 100% can be done in a day bg @xpilar ?

Hi @wandimaru
Steemit FAQ
Every 100% vote you cast will use 2% of your remaining voting power. Your voting power will recharge by 20% each day. You can vote more than 10 times per day, but each vote will be worth less, and it will take longer to reach full voting power again.

Ok thanks for this information bg @xpilar

Hællæ

At 90% is around 11 hours. You can see this at https://steemnow.com/ by @penguinpablo. Just put your name in and it tells you how long it will take to get to 100% from where you are now.

for person who has a small Sp and has no Voting slider, I hardly vote on comment, But I am doing my best to vote for posts. A few tough as my voting pwower drain so fast. will be nice if I can have that one day when i grow my power. : )

Thanks for the tip. Its very helpful.

Very good post, frankly what you talked about is very important, I often give my upvotes posts that I read and comments that I like but I'm not sure how it works at the level of rewards, so I use my upvotes without knowing if I win or lose lol.

really good @xpilar

I do and usually use Steemnow.com a lot !
Man i am waiting for that scroll bar to appear while i can select how much % i can vote upon !

The slider will get you when you have 500SP, see you approaching to get it @rehan12

thank you very much for educating @xpilar.

nice to be able to help @ irfanullah

Re-Steemed and upvoted

Iam upvote and re steem

Useful article.
Taking the appropriate opportunity, I want to tell you how I use my SP. This is far from the standard way, but I so want.
I'm not worried that my voice strength has exceeded 100% and is idle, since it rarely exceeds 20%.
By setting upvote the user Steemit loses 2% of the current SP. It's easy to calculate that at 100% SP it's 2% SP, and at 10% SP it's only 0.2% SP. Putting more upvote, I become more visible on the platform. My tactic is perfect for newcomers to our platform.

Do you receive curation rewards for your votes? If you are below the top 20 voters - the author will not notice you.

But about this I did not think. But still, there are a lot of services with which you can see who gave you votes. I think everyone looks at this.

No one who is busy looks past the first 20 votes.

agree @fitinfun

my power is always at about 30% so dont get any curation rewards, but today i got my slider so will be able to better manage my power from now on! exciting times :)

Hi @owenwat t is good to be able to follow

Yea, good post!

I use steem.cool and steemd.com to watch my power and see what happens om my account. I Find steem.cool to be a bit unreliable. But I I still use it because it is so quick.

Hi @idigit
It's okay to use more if one down

especially thanks for discuss about steemit..best of luck..carry on your activity..

when create your new blog my dearA??

when create your new blog my dear??

ohh thanks...your all blog content just awesom..
i like it.

Hey @xpilar, you're right. But upvoting others for their smart remarks, their cool articles, these awesome creative blogs and just the sheer joy of being able to reward others is just too enticing!

I often drift off to below 70%, I just can't help myself...

Temper your joy with the misery of lost rewards for no reason. People are just as happy for comments here since we get so few.

I wrote a post about this the other day because I get people voting on me with 50 sp and 5% power and sometimes with the slider set to 5% too. Those are the real losers who will never learn if someone does not help them.

You can also see a great representation of your power and other details at https://steemnow.com/ by @penguinpablo. I keep it open all day and could not be without it.

Hi @fitinfun Agree with you
Has mentioned it in a previous post.

https://steemnow.com/upvotecalc.html

I'm sorry, how can I help you?

I fully understand that it's quite hard to get views on your own posts. Those people voting at 5% or less, without significant SP are probably trailing a curator. Not a loser thing to do in my book, quite smart and sensible actually, if you ask me. If you want to continue this conversation, steemit.chat?

Why would it be good to vote all day with a bot for no reward? I see zero benefit.

A curator votes for quality content. Trailing a curator that you think has an eye (or a nose) for great content just means you are support the content that the curator upvotes even more.

I don't do it, but I think that's great. It definitely beats doing nothing with your sitting SP.

The problem is that it is doing nothing. It is so low as to have no effect. Only the top 30 or so voters get anything on a post. If you are below that - you get nothing.

The voter gets no reward. The author gets no reward. The voter never grows over time by voting for no value and the voter is not looking at the posts when new and so not learning anything. Until your vote has value - following a curator only uses the blockchain for activity but no result.

I'm pretty sure that every single vote delivers some reward, for example; these are the votes on your article about BBQ meat 2 days ago:

even with low percentages votes, these votes generally weigh in. So it does pay, albeit that in some cases, some payouts are rounded down to 0. But in general, it pays off for both authors and voters. But yes, you are right, the pay-off is so minimal, maybe not doing it and simply using 100% upvotes is more effective. (Well, that's usually what I do...)

Understand you well, @ fitzgibbon

upvote and resteem

amazing information thank very much xpilar

thank you xpilar

Thank you for explaining it, I will try to follow your direction.

Thank you for this. I hadn't realized you lose curation rewards if you don't use your voting power at 100%. Although I haven't seen 100% in months.

hehe @goldendawne, for those who do not use it when it's 100%, they'll lose it

This post has received a 16.63 % upvote from @boomerang thanks to: @xpilar
