What is Voting Power

By now as a user of steemit.com you should know that you have a certain amount of Voting Power that is maxed out at 100% and when you vote for comments or articles it gets reduced temporary and then recovers over time. The Voting Power you have available depends on the STEEM POWER you hold and the more you have, the more power your vote has. The more power it holds the more Steem Dollars it adds to a post or a comment you cast your vote on.

The higher percentage of Voting Power you have, the more influence each of your votes has, so it is a wise idea to monitor how much voting power you have and try not to get it too low. If your Voting Power gets low, then just give yourself some rest from voting and wait until it regenerates a bit and due to the interest rate you get on Steem Power and your activity posting and voting on steemit.com it will continue to grow as it regenerates.

How to Keep Track of your Voting Power

There are numerous ways to do it, you can take a look at Steemd.com, just open the page of your profile with @yourusername or you can use the SteemDollar.com website and the tool for checking your Voting Worth or you can track that as well as many other useful stats on SteemStats.com. Tools like these give you an idea on what percentage of your Voting Power you still have available and how much is your vote worth at 100% and at your current percentage. So use them wisely and do not spend all of your voting power as it can take quite a while to have it fully regenerate after that, try to avoid it falling below 70-80% in order to have your vote worth more.

Do note that sometimes different websites can report slightly different numbers. The reason for that is apparently because they use different sources for the data. For example Steemd.com apparently caches some of the numbers and you may need to cast a vote in order for the number to get refreshed!

So How Much Voting Power With 1000 STEEM POWER

Since I was very close to the 1000 STEEM POWER I have decided to get some more STEEM tokens and Power Up in order to finally get to this nice round number and actually see how much Voting Power does 1000 STEEM POWER represent...

Well, it seems that 1000 STEEM POWER will make your vote worth $0.0525 at 100% voting power, that is just a little over 5 cents if you have your power fully regenerated and that can be a hard thing to do if you spend more time on steemit as there are quite a few publications and comments that you want to cast a vote for. Now that this is over with I can get some good night sleep without trying to figure it out anymore.
