RE: Vocab-ability–212 (serv = serve, keep) – A More Powerful Vocabulary (earn UpVotes with “Vocab Practice” exercise)

in #vocab-ability6 years ago

MY VOCAB PRACTICE:

  1. Conserve.
To conserve energy, we need to turn off all appliances and light switches when they’re not in use.

  2. Deserve,
He deserves to receive and obtain proper wages for the extra works he performed in your company.

  3. Reserve.
There were a few tables in the restaurant that were reserved for a private engagement yesterday afternoon.

  4. Preserve.
She likes and enjoys canning as well as making jam fruits in a jar to preserve its flavor in its own syrup.

  5. Servile.
Certain classifications of dogs are trained to be servile to their blind owners.

  6. Subservient.
The servants in the castle are subservient to the king and queen’s orders and inside protocols.

Good work!

But in #5, the word "servile" has a negative connotation, so your usage is not entirely appropriate.
