Peter McKinnon is a great filmmaker and one of my idols as well. You’re style of filmmaking is obviously influenced by him but as you said that is no bad thing.
I think about it in a similar very similar way. Try to adapt what other pros are doing, master it and then create your own style from what you’ve learned.
And if any motherf***er out there says that you suck because you knock off Peter McKinnon. Well, I would think about this guy: First of all try by yourself to knock off somebody like Peter in a proper way and then we’ll talk again... ;)
