DTube is manually curated. There are other DAPPS that use bots but I believe DTube has always been manual curation and they even added to the curation team a little while back so that there is less missed content. They have adjusted their techniques of manually curating over the past 11 months that I have been here so that the votes are spread out more than it used to be. I hope that answers your question. In my opinion:
I was just surprised by the upvote @dtube, the more my surprise, the more confused I was. So it's better I decided not to think about upvote from @dtube anymore. I'd better just focus on my work. And don't expect too much on upvote from @dtube.
You have to find another way to do this, so that working on steemit or D.Tube feels good.
Thanks for discussing this today, I have also discussed the same thing a few months ago. And it turns out the same question arises again.

Yes . Steemit is created for doing a things that we love to do. If you like what are you doing, then upvotes wil coming anyway I think :)

@emsonic, I think we need more decentralised ecosystem, so that we don't depend on the upvotes of the whales. Many people make content, just to get upvoted by DTube. They don't care about that much if other Steemians will like their content. So, I am against centralisation of SP. But, O thonk DTube is a good team. So, they deserve to have 2-3% of the total SP. This is my view. I don't claim to be right.

I think you have right. DTube is good platform and I think people should more watching and comment other contest to make more community and don't watch on that who have how many sp. If I like content then I upvote :)

Dtube does manual upvotes. They upvotes you when you put effort into editing a good video. It’s like creating good contents in steemit blogging, the difference here is dtube vlogging. So yeah, in my opinion I thin dtube gives upvote manually, and when you learn something about dtube and share it on the eco-system. They may upvote you. Not all my vlog is upvoted by dtube, but it’s ok. To me it’s all about engaging with other steemians who actually, comment on my dtube videos.
Keep posting @emsonic. I agree with @prettynicevideo. You do sound like dracula! 😂 Probably he is your ancestor. Who knows?!

As far as your questions, it may seem that way because The crypto content itself has more people doing it. What gets up votes is when they notice you're building your own audience of real friends and engaging. Engaging with the people that leave comments on videos etc

I think they watch videos that are uploaded just upvotes whatever they like..?
I think they continue to look for ways to not only reward good content but also motivate the adoption of use of their DApps. While users should not rely on the upvote, it provide a great motivation to post more often.

I thought a lot about this question and tried to find an algorithm of upvotes.
From what I watched on my videos, DTube upvotes, if you post regularly, around the same time period. And maybe if you get a community's upvote, it also adds a plus to you.
