There are a multitude of applications to facilitate communications: from personal communications to business or public communications. The range is from email, to facebook, twitter, steemit, chat, bb, etc. There are applications for collaborative work, from project to information management.
Viva has adopted Basecamp as a collaborative tool for CrownHolders. This application allows more structured communications than a chat room. Here are the main features.
Consultation / answers
The menu consists of the following elements which are mainly elements of consultation:
- Last Activity shows the messages published in descending chronological order while Hey! presents them by read/unread and by subjects.
- Ping allows a personal chat in the manner of an SMS while Campfire is a chat with everyone present on the channel.
- Reports produces activity reports.
- Find is an interesting function because it allows you to search for a word, an expression, a person, present in a document or in the whole application.
Work zone
By accessing to the Team or Projects, we enter in the work area which includes several activities, each of which is open to guests only. Each operation can send a notification to members.
- It is in the Message Board that the titles and contents of the subjects
- The Campfire is a chat reserved for the members of the team or the project.
- The Schedule allows you to set deadlines for an event by selecting the people to be invited.
- The To-dos allows you to assign tasks to people with deadlines by adding all the necessary notes.
- Docs & Files allows to deposit documents of any type: texts, spreadsheet, images, pdf from your computer or from Google doc. You can also write a document in the built-in editor.
- Check-ins allows you to automate a reminder and receive responses in one post. Ex.Will you be present at the meeting?
- Email forwards. Basecamp provides a space that brings together all the e-mails of a project in one place, avoiding the need to search them in your personal e-mails.
Very interesting platform!!! When it's released is plan?
Our intuition about the future is linear. But the reality of information technology is exponential, and that makes a profound difference. If I take 30 steps linearly, I get to 30. If I take 30 steps exponentially, I get to a billion
Thanks for sharing. Love steemit . A fan of yours now. Just followed and upvoted. Thanks
I really liked basecamp in earlier versions when it was more about project management, but as they evolved into a product servicing 'teams' I felt they really lost a lot of their core functionality.
These days I can't really get excited by it - if you've got Slack and a team dropbox, you're covering most of the functionality listed above. Not to mention that Slack and Dropbox are free for most purposes that a small team requires of them. Slack, in particular has a ton of integrations with a ton of different SAAS products that would negate the need for something like basecamp.
Throw in something Like Trello and Asana, which are way more polished than Basecamp, and you've got a winner team stack.
Great post! Basecamp looks like a really well done group platform. So many of these type of platforms have simple, bare-bones types of looks and i'm glad to see one that looks as attractive as this does.
Thanks for this!
Wow. Super effective tool! I would love to use this. Thanks for sharing. I just upvoted and followed.
This is what I am looking for! Thanks for sharing. Love steemit community especially steemians like you who give good advice. A fan of yours now. Just followed and upvoted. Thanks.

Pretty cool idea, and I can see it being practical in the work space, too. I've gone through a few different chatroom based systems, and currently using Google Apps.
Looks like an awesome piece of software
I love Basecamp it is an extremely useful service that's great for collaborating on projects. I just wish they became open source and allowed us to self host an instance.
There is a large amount of collaboration software. Some are open source. But you have to test them and check if they meet your needs.
