Fanmade Tekken Video KILLS Official Hollywood Rendition

in #viral7 years ago (edited)

In summer 2009, we created this fan-made Tekken trailer for a film festival contest. We ended up missing the deadline for the contest but still decided to finish it. Even without the hope of possibly winning an award, we still saw a perfect opportunity to time the release of our viral video to coincide perfectly with both the official Hollywood Tekken trailer and the release of the 6th installment of the fighting game franchise.

The video exploded beyond our expectations and was picked up by big news sites like Kotaku and Spike TV. They praised the production value especially considering the budget was only $300. Spike TV even called for Hollywood executives to cut us a check to make the real thing! Fans of Tekken were left wanting more as the official Hollywood trailer showed very little respect to the source material.

It's pretty safe to say that every fan and gaming journalist agreed that our small little video was more in line with what fans were looking for in a Tekken live action film. We were only 22 at the time of the making of this video and it gave us a great deal of confidence moving forward as filmmakers. Please enjoy the trailer!
