We are overloaded with information these days and have so much at our fingertips. These phones in our pockets change us for better and worse. Time was crawling prior to their advanced existence and now they are accelerating the feeling of life. I am 32 years old from a working class upbringing and have witnessed black and white tvs, phones in bags in trucks, beepers, phones with cords on walls, floppy disks, and blowing on nes games to get them to work. I didn't have a phone until I was 16 and that was a Nokia squishy button block with limited texts.
My parents still live on 200 acres in the country of Virginia and prefer that laid back life. They still dont have an adequate cell tower service with a proper signal. There is no cable service there as well, believe it or not. Satellite is required. I have marched on from back home (Florida). But I can always visit and return to the past. Its my going back in time. Many years ago, beginning with college in 2002, I moved on and onwards. Change is necessary.
Now, we can't get away from the data and information. Between fielding up to 50 calls a work day and handling the massive amount of information as part of that, I find myself seeking more information. Daily, I follow drudge, the market, sports, politics, the local surf report, my friends' posts and memes, my texts, calls and updates with my wife and family, and the mainstream news....the news...the crazy, real-time videos these days that keep coming illustrating the terrors and misfortunes around the globe. The liveleaks, the Facebook live posts, the tragedies. This violence has always been around, we just haven't always had data and wifi and streaming capabilities to show the rest of the world. It is alarming.
And yet, as I sat here tonight, I confess that I tried to find a video of the terror attack in Nice, France. Why do I really need to see that? I don't, but since I know it's probably out there, why not ingrain those images in there as well. Just like Orlando and Dallas, we all hope and pray the affected will heal and loss of life will be minimized. What will tomorrow bring? The next cop bodycam leak, justified or not? Can we escape these things? No, but we can insulate ourselves if we try to ignore. Espn is showing young ladies talking about the Orlando shooting. I guess I better go watch some of that too. Oh well, I can't post this tonight on steem due to the hack...there you go again life. Now as I type from bed (my wife and unborn son and I) are well protected. At least from what I can control. I have multiple firearms and flashlights loaded at the ready on the ground and 2nd floor. We both sleep lightly. What more can you do? Goodnight world, for tomorrow is a new day.
In the future you would optimize readability and flow drastically by creating several paragraphs. It is hard on the eyes to go through a wall of text (which your current blog undeniably qualifies as) despite how well written it may otherwise be. This is merely a tip!
I agree I should have broken it up. Thanks for the feedback. I love how your comment is netting more steem than my actual post...
