I find the choice of Silent Hill 3 the best of the series to be interesting. I actually felt the "horror" in that game was more expected and not as terrifying. For me, SH3 was more of a simple expansion on the universe considering its direct tie in to the first game. I actually have more terrifying memories of SH4, but at the same time that game was more annoying than the previous ones. I still feel SH2 was my favorite of the series, and Pyramid Head's meandering around through the earlier parts of the game will always stick with me as the most terrifying experience in a game ever.
