[Rocket League] Worth the buy?

in #videogame7 years ago

This game, as far as any smaller developer games go, feels like a AAA game. It has almost all the bads, and all the goods associated with that claim as well.

Loot-boxes are a dollar to open.
It's filled with promotional stuff.
It's got no official single-player.
server and rubber-banding issues.

Yet, for all the flaws, it has some amazing features.

The graphics are great and run great even on low end systems.
The mode/mechanics is unique and fun.
Multiple game-modes.
steam workshop support.
Competitive and casual game-play are both a focus.
Low skill floor, high skill ceiling.
Cool looking cosmetics.
Local split-screen multiplayer (a rarity these days).

This game is easy to pick up, but really hard to master. There is a beauty in its simplicity, both in graphics and mechanics, yet there are no other games like it except for the game it was originally based off of. It takes the same idea of portal, where you have one really cool mechanic, and you do it, and you do it really fricken well.

Over all, Worth the buy, even not on sale. Just don't pay for stupid lootboxes/keys.

hey @azur!

nice review. but question. don't you think this game is way to old to review today? haha it came out like 2 3 years ago. I still fricken LOVE this game... but i still haven't bought it hehe :D

Thank you :) You do have a point, but one of the other perks I did not mention is that it still has a huge player-base. This game has so far aged really well, and I don't feel like the age of the game in any way should make anyone hesitate from buying it. They still update it, add new modes, etc. If you like it and want to play it more, I'd still recommend you buy it. If you want, I can review more of the newer games, but I like to mix things up.

first off thanks for the up vote bro haha returned the favor on ur post :D

second ya no its true still is a huge game in terms of player base. i feel ya. keep going bro looking forward to more reviews!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! Quick question(s), would you rather a quick format like this or a longer bunch of paragraphs like some of the other ones? or even a video review to accompany it?
