Going Green in Guadalajara

Since we'll be spending more time in Guadalajara than any other city to date, we've been on the lookout for the best ways to get around. While in Guadalajara, up until now, we've walked to most destinations. Sometimes we'll take an Uber but more often than not, we set out on foot.

In today's video, we attempt to navigate Guadalajara's bicycle program. Their Mi Bici program is a super convenient bike rental system at a very reasonable price. We faced some challenges while trying to sign up since we're still learning the language. Check out the video to see if we crash and burn!

Great Post .. Well done
Great video
thank you for the advices‏..

Actually, it is more beneficial to our health if we use a bicycle and it is fun too. If the places are just near and are a bicycle away then it is better to have that transport.

nice

Be careful!!! I noticed that graffitti. lol

I wonder if they said estupido gringos after you left. lol

We should have those bikes in the USA!!!

Lol. I'm sure they were laughing a bit at our struggles but I think they appreciate that over people who don't try to learn the language at all.

The walk there wasn't through the best part of town. Most of Guadalajara that we've seen is much nicer than that!

I would've loved it if they had a bike system like this while we were living in Phoenix. It's so convenient!

we have them in seattle and people are leaving them everywhere but in their docking station

its a beautiful city so biking should be a great experience!

This is great

I'm glad I subscribed on YouTube because yesterday's video #105 wasn't on Steemit. (Don't know if that was deliberate or an oversight).

That was very much an oversight, thanks for pointing that out. I think we put out two YouTube videos that day and usually struggle to put out just one. Since we try not to post more than one time each day on Steemit, it was about to get buried. Thanks for pointing that out, it's up on Steemit now :)

Another great way to explore the city @tangerinetravels! And I can't believe how cheap it can get for a 1-year subscription! Enjoy and take care!

Right? You're insured, you don't have to worry about maintenance, storage, or theft. Nothing. Unlimited rides for less than $20 USD per year.

Oh yes! That's sweet! 😊

I totally love this new design which is yoir intro. Super cool...bravo! .

I really love this idea of MiBici. Laska would be the one missing out haha but you guys really deserve it. You can use that break. You practically walk everywhere and this should help and doing the yearly pass makes more sense financially.

I think I have to volunteer to help with your camera while you ride. Hahaha

That means they have their bike stations every 30minutes block since you can only go for 30minutes before you return it. That is pretty impressive I must say. They tried to cover every loop holes by the emergency button. I really love the idea behind this.

Maddie scattered Spanish there? Hahahahaha.

You guys are already getting used to their fast speaking. You still communicate so well and they understand what you are saying.

Well done guys. This new target would be reached. Proud of you both

Haha today, we were just about to get on the bikes and Maddie was like "Should I risk holding onto the camera while riding? (to get footage) Or put it away?" I opted for putting it away because it's too expensive to risk breaking.

I wish more cities had a bike program like this! It's really convenient and such a great deal as compared to the prices of other things around here. Our rate of subscriber growth has slowed a little bit, so 5,000 by the 18th is still a lofty goal. Hopefully, we can get there!

Hahahahaha Maddie must have given you some kind of look for that statement. Hahahaha.

I just enjoy seeing you both together. Your combination is really admirable.

Yes, in as much as she might try to keep us informed, the risk is kinda high.

I totally understand and i am still hopeful you will get quite a good number of subscribers soon.

I’d noticed those hire-bikes in the background of some of your other videos. You probably know there are similar schemes elsewhere around the world (the largest being Paris and London).
In Paris people love to hire bikes to cycle down the Montmartre hill but no-one ever wants to cycle back up (the scheme operator drags them back up en masse).

We've noticed that here in Guadalajara, there are popular pickup points and other places that are popular for dropping off. That means, there are often times bike stations that are completely full or empty. It seems that they have to put a lot of effort into transporting bikes from popular drop-off stations to popular pick-up stations. I imagine it's quite a complex system and there's an immense amount that we don't know.

I do not know about the bike system in Guadalajara, but we have a similar one in Mexico City. And here we do not follow the rules too much, it's just being careful and being aware of what happens around. Qué chido que ahora tienen las bicis para viajar :)

here we do not follow the rules too much, it's just being careful and being aware of what happens around.

That sounds like our experience driving in Mexico. Rules seem to be optional often times, but everyone is very aware.

hahaha that´s true!
If you have not been in Mexico City you will see that it is much more chaotic but still beautiful

Buenas bicicletas, me gusto mucho tu tatu como es llamado en mi país. @tangerinetravels

Haha! Sometimes the map doesn't say it all. You think it would be like few minutes away but in reality, it's like miles! I've experienced that too before.

Haha, we had looked at maps of quite a few other cities so we thought we know how close/far we were away from things. What we didn't realize was just how much larger Guadalajara was than the other cities we've been to.

make your exercise of the day and know the city! perfect match. Hope you enjoy it.

This is just our second day having the bike rental subscription, and we're already finding that we're able to see a lot more of the city! Loving it so far, thanks for watching :)

@knircky has set 0.100 STEEM bounty on this post! logo_for-light-bg_1000.png What is a bounty exactly?

A bounty is money sent to a post to be distributed to the users commenting on it. It provides a way to reward users directly and works in addition to the steem/sbd they receive from the blockchain. It works independently of SteemPower.

You create a bounty by sending any amount of sbd/steem to @steem-bounty together with a post-url in the memo.

How can I earn a bounty Users are then competing for the bounty by writing their answers to the post in comments that will achieve upvotes from the community and especially the bounty creator. The money of the bounty gets distributed to all top level comments of the post at the same time when the post is paid out (7 Days after it was written). How much everyone gets depends on the votes the comments received. The sender of the bounties votes are weighted higher so that she decideds where 80% of the bounty money goes and all other votes determine the rest.

@steem-bounty does all of this for you automatically. You can use this service to automatically pay out a challenge, ask a hard question or simply to reward the people that interact with you.

Read more about how it works, even in different languages here.

Congratulations to the following winner(s) of the bounty!

a new city to visit brings many anecdotes

Guadalajara is a cool city in Mexican state of Jalisco. Really be green in Guadalajara.

You have a memorable experience! Congratulation

@tangerinetravels, walking and using the bike is very exciting.

They are the reason why I check my favorites history. They are fantastic guys, I always wait for their videos

Really cool. We do not have this type of service here in Merida. it will be a good way for people to do exercise and for them not to use that much the bus system that at least here are contaminating the air. Thank you for posting.

Enjoy your time and remember to wear lots of sunscreen, biking around down there can be hot. Safety first!

Discovering on foot bring always the most fun! And heavy feet at the end of the day, too!
