Good morning, Hive-ians! 😊
This was my practice run for making myself a birthday cake from scratch. The flavour was nice, but the icing was way too sweet, so I’m going to have to figure out how to make it less sweet while keeping the consistency of this one’s icing, it came out like we like it, just a bit too sweet. 😊
We’ve gotten quite a bit of snow this week. 😊
All the fresh snow has made our pretty puppy mom Karma happy, she loves winter. 😊

We’ve been getting a lot of Snow Buntings stopping by this week, like this one, it’s the smaller of the three flocks that have popped in for a snack. 😊
The pretty black and white female pigeon, that we Hope, has stopped in each day this week, sometimes with other pigeons and sometimes with the Snow Buntings. 😊

My handsome husband and I made some brown bread to get us through the weekend, yum. 😊
Every year the Snow Buntings come back and enjoy this spot in our front yards as the dogs lose their mind because its in their dog run area. 😊

That bread looks wonderful! Sorry to hear truck is still dead. We have gotten snow, and it melts, and more and it melts, have about 2" atm...

We barely leave the homestead now, so the loss of the truck only hurts when we need to get something for the animals. Thankfully, our neighbour lends us his once or twice a month and is willing to pick up any supplies we need between those trips, if needed. In return, my handsome husband has been plowing him out after each big snowstorm, so it's a win-win for us all. 😊
I'm willing to send you our snow, any time, just say the word, we have more than enough to share, I promise you that. LOL! 😊
This week we're supposed to have two big snowstorms with a nice bout of freezing rain between them, oh joy. Winter in Canada is always an adventure. &128522;
I'm going to go enjoy some of my birthday cake before the dogs drool on me (they're sitting staring at me as I'm typing this before I eat the slice off the plate on the desk in front of me), it was interesting making it from scratch, (it took me almost the whole afternoon to make the German butter cream frosting, but my handsome husband and I both agree it was worth the effort,) so I'll chat with you later. 😊

Thank you very much, the cake was tasty, but I still have work to do on the frosting. It wasn't bad for my first attempt at German buttercream icing, but it was a bit too thick. I'll figure it out eventually, it was better than the American buttercream icing I tried on the last cake I made, but still not quite right, tasty, just not right. Eventually though, I'm going to get it bang on and then it will be fantastic! 😊
