Foraging WILD EDIBLE PLANTS in GA

in #vegan6 years ago (edited)

I spent some time foraging wild plants that grow near my parents house in Georgia today ❊

TOP LEFT: Raspberry plant!

There is a huge bundle of raspberries that are growing near the woods that nobody ever harvests 🙃 the berries haven't grown yet but the leaves are perfect for drying and making tea! raspberry leaves contain tannins, a natural astringent that helps cleanse the body. The tea is also great for treating oral issues like gum disease & cavities, and supporting healthy menstruation. Native American women have used raspberry leaves for years to help prepare the womb for childbirth!

TOP RIGHT: Wild green onions!

Great for regulating blood sugar, they help prevent blood clotting, & they kill parasites!

BOTTOM RIGHT: Wild garlic!

As soon as I pulled them up the smell was intoxicating. So strong and delicious. Garlic is a great natural antibiotic and immune system booster. My favorite thing about it is it's ability to increase our absorption of iron & zinc. Two very important minerals for the body that most people are deficient in these days!

BOTTOM LEFT: Cranesbill/Wild Geranium

Native Americans used this plant as an astringent & antiseptic. It was used as an eye wash and the powdered roots would be combined with other herbs to treat wounds & swollen feet. The fresh leaves can be used as mosquito repellent!
I love this perfect planet 😪 Go outside and see what gifts dwell in the dirt near you ✨

Thanks for reading! Much love to all of you.
