RE: How Veganism Compelled Me To Change My Habits: Following Logic and Admitting My Wrongs.

in #vegan7 years ago

I too am Vegan, and Male. What I have come to find is that all animal products are not fit for human consumption, especially since we have industrialised the production of animal products. They cause awful diseases. which range from Hypertension all the way up to Cancer.

The chemical processes involved in breaking down animal products result in deficiency of important chemicals such as magnesium - I cannot recall the others right now - Which are part of enzyme cascades that produce other chemicals which are vital for an optimum immune system and stable mental health.

While it is obvious that we are mistreating the ecosystems we rely on just to get food, expecting people to care about this is very ineffective and this is the source of much of our frustration. What we fail to realise is that the modern food industry have created products that are addictive, and meat is no less addictive.

What we are doing when we are vanguard of animal ethics is just as effective as a simple drug information session. What I have found to be much more effective is to treat lifestyle disease with a whole-food plant based diet.

This brings with it all the benefits that are associated with being Vegan, such as longevity and a clear and stable mind, with the added benefit of decreasing the strain on our ecosystems.

There is absolutely no rational reason to get angry from this approach, since it is just as beneficent to the human as it is to the animal.

Keep it up, mate. I cannot think of another way to live my life, since I have become vegan I no longer have ADD nor Mild Depression, I have much more energy, and there are spiritual effects that I cannot explain. Life is amazing right now, and it is all because someone took the time to teach me how to live in this peculiar part of the planet.

My choice of diet has also causes a shakeup in my friendships, and that is even though I am not as evangelical as a lot of people are about being vegan.

Hi Damo,

Thanks for your extensive comment. I really appreciate people that take the time to sit down and get such a detailed answer out.

It appears like we have a lot in common. I agree that so much disease is a result of animal product consumption.

Although I studied biomedical science and some nutrition during my uni days, I'm still developing my knowledge base. I wasnt aware of the cascading effect that you mentioned but I am aware of the effects of calcium leeching from excess proteins (animal protein) and the cancer promoting effects of insulin growth-like factors particularly found in dairy. Very scary.

Sometimes you just need to be that happy, healthy person for people to ask;

"You're looking great! What's the secret?"

That's the phase I'm going through right now. I still get silly comments at work, but I do not engage angrily anymore. It just doesn't work.

Thanks again for stopping by. I really appreciate your support!

All the best,
Nick.
