Dam girl that was very well written. I like the quote about furniture right off the start, I like to take it outside sometimes myself but with Canada being so cold most the year..god I'm glad u didn't name vegangains as one of your youtube inspirations, that guy is straight up cancer. Wash them beans off yo you gotta soak em and cut down on the butt burps lol I respect anyone for going vegan out of respect for animals I really do, I love all the animals and wish we could do a helluva lot more to make the meat and poultry industrys more humane. I guess I'll leave it at that. Mad respect for you @choogirl. I find it hard to believe you've been vegan so long.. you only look 20 now! Cheers mate 😊

Aw, thanks for the compliment and the comment GA. 💚

Yes al fresco sex in Canada could be an issue for much of the year.

I used to watch Vegan Gains. He was entertaining for a while, but not so much anymore.

Plant power! Nice and informative post for newbies and seasoned vegans alike.

Thank you!

Great post choogirl.

I used to be completely vegan but I had become concerned with my low b12 levels. I still eat mostly vegan but I have the occasional animal product (mostly oysters and goat's cheese) to get some natural b12 in my system. I also take b12 orally and through monthly injections.

I always stop by El Jardin Vegetariano on Via Veneto when I'm in Panama City. Have you ever been there?

Yeah, I pop a B12 pill every now and again when I remember. I don't actually think about much. I like nutritional yeast on things too.

No, I haven't been there. One day!

So you do fart alot, I'm glad you addressed that little tid bit, I've been wondering since steemlords...lol. Jk, great post, I would miss cheese too much to join you though. :(.

Lol! No thankfully my guts adjusted a long time ago.

Thank you so much for this!

I am exactly that starving vegetarian and the starving part is whats stopping me from going vegan. Though I think I prefer the plant based diet than going full vegan.

Thank you also for all the links. Im going to check them out today.

Ohh and that tea should come today!!

You're welcome Arly! The fact that you can eat more food is one of the biggest benefits of going vegan I think. You should definitely track your calories then and make sure you're getting enough. This is one of the biggest reasons why people fail.

Track calories 😣 The only thing I ever track is the movements of the celestial bodies lol

That looking at labels thing is a killer.
Might as well just live off the earth. Fruit, veg & nuts - I have considered it.

Hey, great post, lots of info there. My wife and I went to a plant based diet almost a month ago. Like a light switch, we didn't ease into it. It has not been difficult. The real challenge for me, since I am head cook, is just finding new recipes.

Awesome. I always get a bit excited when I hear people have seen the light and made the switch. Like I said. YouTube. That's where I get all my recipes from.

I wish you luck.

I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks again!

Actually, there's some good recipes on here too if you search vegan. But I'm sure you're onto that already.

ive been vegetarian all my life :) im interested in going vegan. very interesting post, thanks for sharing! <3

Wow! Loved your post!! So informative! Learned a few new things about the vegan life.
Great post @choogirl!
Oh, and I tried those vegan tim tams and mint slices! Theyre great!😄
Upvoted u of course 🖒🤗

Excellent. Thank you @cooknbake. Yes, those biscuits are very nice. I particularly like the mint slice ones.

First off. Your memes are the fucking best I have seen!! I love love love this post. I am not vegan or a vegatarian. But I have recently in the last 4 months or so stopped buying meat. I have eaten it other places than my own home. But when i choose to eat, i have been eating plants. Being in the nutritional industry for a few years. Its scary to me what goes on behind the scenes of the food "makers".
The reason I actually started eating more plants and not buying meat is bc I saw a disturbing video about how animals are treated for it to get to us like it does at the store. Chickens are the most abused animals in the world. I love eating plants. I can eat so much and feel full and energized!! I even know some people that began to function physically again when they switched to all plants. Love the info @choogirl

Oh wow, thank you for such an awesome comment. Yes, it's very sad how animals are treated and I do not want to contribute to that either. I'm glad that you feel amazing after switching to plants. I wish everyone could feel this way, but people have to find their own path to this lifestyle. If there's one thing I've learnt, it's trying to force people to change rarely works.

Wow one of the best write ups I've seen here in a while. Really comprehensive and it's captured my interest. I'll have to read it again to really "digest" the content. Super good job @choogirl and thanks for the time it obviously took you.

Awesome! I'm glad you found it useful.

I hope you do come back when you're ready to go a step further.

What a comprehensive post on the subject, excellent work!

I'm new to Vegetarian/Veganism and having tried with Vegan, I've taken a step 'back' to Vegetarian for now, mainly for eggs and cheese.

Thank you, I have bookmarked for future reference :)

Thank you. I'm glad you found this useful.

It's an excellent blog! Thank you again :)

Wow!!! this post is such a powerhouse of info... I will have to bookmark and keep referring back to it. Thanks for listing your different movie and documentary recommendations. I think when I am ready to transition into a plant-based diet I will need to sit down and watch these, because I really want to understand how bad the meat and dairy industry is so I can try and fully commit to eating in an ethical way.
Thanks again @choogirl

Thank you @hannahlicious! I've found that bullying people into going vegan doesn't work too well. Providing people with good info and then stepping back and answering questions and generally being supportive is a much more productive way to go.

Ok, that quote you opened with was just spot on. Well written!

Thank you. It is a good one. I like it too.

I started eating vegan not too long ago because animal products seemed to hurt my stomach after every meal my entire life really. I was thinking maybe it's just the dairy, Cut that out still had pain. The last thing I hadn't tried was eating vegan, so far so good. I'm not into processed and canned foods and tofu/bean curd isn't appealing to me in the least. So, I'm basically eating vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, rice. These sort of things. In the beginning it was a struggle, now not so much as my pain went away once I started eating this way. I am not going to lie, but the beans did make me gassy at first, :( but my body has adjusted. I liked your post. Thank you.

Thank you for reading! I'm glad you persevered and it seems to be working for you. Your story is not uncommon.

The memes in here are hillarious, the content is amazing, and the facts are undeniable. Thanks for sharing. My wife and I have been slowly eating less meat and trying more vegetarian/vegan meals and I have to admit they have been some of my favorite.

Thank you @gniksivart! I'm glad you got something out of it. The Joaquin Phoenix meme cracks me up the most. I had to use that when I saw it.

Wow, I wish my upvote was worth more because this post is worth it! You really put some work in to get the most useful information in one place. You list many things that started my change to plant based and now that I've been plant based for over a year I feel great. It's amazing when you look at the doctors' research how what we eat is causing all the health issues plaguing society.

Working in a profession that requires us to stay physically fit, the first thing my co-workers harassed me about was protein. One buddy in particular may have more muscle mass, but my muscle is more lean... which makes him jealous haha. I'd recommend a couple books at tack onto your list when it comes to protein and fitness. First is Proteinaholic by a surgeon who became plant based. Where do massive, muscular bulls and rhinos get protein? PLANTS! Next are a couple books by triathlete Brendan Brazier called Thrive and Thrive Fitness. Those two books gave me great ideas for foods to eat, some ways to boost plant based protein if you're working out a lot (but he also points out you need much less protein to build muscle than previously thought), and even a great new way to structure my workouts.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time for this great "all-in-one" write up! You did well, and hopefully it encourages more people to give plant based a try and live feeling healthy and wonderful.

Wow. Thanks for the great comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes I've read Proteinaholic. It's a great book and very eye opening. Not seen the other two but I know who Brendan Brazier is.

Just amazing and informative post. Thanks for sharing!🌼

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Great post, very interesting and informing,i've recently been diagnosed with diabetes and have been thinking about turning to a vegetable diet but don't really know much about it.Thank for sharing the links for some relevant videos on the subject, will watch them later.

Thank you @makrotheblack. You should definitely check out some of those links. I think they would help you a lot.

Also, check out this video by Dr Greger on insulin resistance. Best explanation I've seen.

Thanks for the video, very useful indeed.

Great post and info! I am vegan as well and plan to write a post soon on the true meaning of the word vegan since I do think it is so often misunderstood nowadays. I love that you first separated the idea of 'plant-based' and 'vegan'. Many don't understand that being a vegan encompasses so much more than just a diet. Thanks for sharing this info!!! :)

Thank you @kbvictor. I look forward to your post. Followed.

we live in a world where human life has no value and some people are worried about chicken, cow, goat etc's lives.. tsk

So since there are humans suffering in this world as well we shouldn't discuss any other issues going on in the world?

“As long as there are slaughter houses there will always be battlefields.” - Leo Tolstoy

Human suffering and animal suffering go hand in hand more than one might think.

Also...this wonderful post had so much quality info and that's all you can say? Or maybe you didn't fully read it.

plants are probably non living things and they don't feel any pain or whatever when we cut them.. afterall they don't have red bloods

research has proven that plants are conscious

Great post, @choogirl! We know that beliefs, stereotypes and myths often make it difficult for many people to change their habits (for example, switching to a vegan diet). It may even seem impossible to them. We are very happy to meet people like you, who promote these changes and encourage others to reflect on the impact that their food has on the environment, health and lives of animals. That is why we recently started our @letsteamup project, with which we intend to give anyone the opportunity to contribute to animal welfare using Steemit. We would be glad to receive your opinion about our initiative, as we see that you care for animals and their well-being. Thank you for sharing your reflections on the main challenges and beliefs about vegan diets. It certainly has the potential to inspire many people to make a change. We are looking forward to your next posts :)

Hi @choogirl I just wanted to say I loved your post! You covered so many points, and it was very informative. It's really getting the Vegan message out there in a positive, non-confrontational manner. Glad to see it getting the votes and rewards it deserves.

PS I'm kinda new to Steemit so still fumbling my way through, but you'll be glad (maybe) to know you're the first person I'm following! I'm going to have a look through some of your other posts.

Keep up the awesome work! ✌️

Super awesome post. I have found the biggest challenge is feeling full all the time but I also feel more "in tune" with my body so I can tell when I'm running low and smash down a green smoothie.

I think more than anything it's just the right thing to do. We don't need to kill animals so why do it? A little bit of effort and it's a complete positive life changer.

Hey check out Simnett Nutrition Youtube, he's been a big help to me going vegan too!

Hahahah keep farting!!!!

It's been a year for me and my tummy still isn't adjusting nicely @choogirl

My 7 yo always giggles when he sees beans in his meals as he'd know he would be having fart competition with the father 😂😂😂😂😂
