Now that's a GOOD THOUGHT. The Return Proposal is a bit clumsy of a way to manage what does and does not get funded, so it would be better if the managers of the DHF would see to this -- and now is a good time, before the bull run really hits!

As for becoming a Value Plan sponsored project -- and @macchiata, you might be interested in reading this as well -- there was a post done including social impact projects Valueplan is funding for promotional purposes. This is the key paragraph:

Brand recognition and awareness of Hive is the main projected outcome of all Value Plan activities. Hive is not competing with DPoS blockchains, most of which are defunct or abandoned. Hive is not competing with Web3 blogging platforms. Hive is competing with industry giants like Ethereum or Solana. We must focus on highlighting our amazing protocol, achievements, ecosystem and communities.

So, whatever projects may be suggested to Valueplan for support would need to be positioned to tend toward that projected outcome. They also included a scope:

  • Conferences which can be organized in-house, Hive dapp-hosted, or external. These include trade shows and expos.

  • Physical major advertisements on products, vehicles, billboards, signage and events. All locations must be legitimate and professional.

  • Significant promotions of Hive which may include contests and hackathon-style activities. This includes partner-related promotional activities to which we are invited to in joint participation.

  • Outward-facing events such as the undertaking of the social impact and niche promotion events or conferences.

  • Promotions and activities that showcase Hive as a Web3 leader and an excellent protocol to build on.

I would look at bullet 3 and bullet 5 and think about large associations of writers, and also of people that want to build (decentralized) apps for writers and other creatives -- conferences, contests, etc.

Thank you for tagging me here. I definitely need to read more on those projections and plans since I am going to be invited to host a workshop introducing Hive so I could better understand what needs to be done/achieved and expectations and such. As I probably mentioned, I have a clear set of audience and those things that is mentioned over @valueplan could be something that I could use to convince these people Why write on Hive and Why bother checking out Hive. The thing is, I am not going to apply anything until I saw how the audience reacted to it. Anyhow, that being said, I really hope one day @valueplan would consider checking out Blockchain Asia, CoinfestAsia, Singapore coinfest and the likes around APAC.

Sounds like a plan -- and, given Indonesia's status as No. 3 in the world, I don't think going to the major conferences where it is well represented is too big of an ask. India would be also be well-represented in two of those three, and also Vietnam I think is no. 6 -- that would be a good use of budget, actually!

@deeanndmathews @shanibeer @macchiata I have taken some initiatives in India to put Hive's name out there. Almost no one knew about Hive in India at the start of this year, but now we get mails asking us to attend conferences or partner up with blockchain events happening here.

We started off by targeting technical university students and having them take part in hackathons, where they were to build dapps on Hive. From there our network expanded and we onboarded quite a few writers. But the problem always revolved around retention. So we changed our approach a bit.

Now we are targeting college societies that are into writing and other cultural programs. We onboard them and ask them to post on Hive on a regular basis.
Even in hackathons, to retain the young developers, we have changed our approach a bit.

Also, we are now targeting bigger conferences where key figures in the blockchain industry are present.

The Asian conferences you mentioned are definitely places Hive should be present, but as you can see, it's been less than 9 months since we started focussing a bit on Asian countries, especially India.

Hopefully, by next year, Hive will be present everywhere and people will be talking about us and all the features we have to offer.

Token2049 that happened in Singapore would have been a really good platform for us to be at. I really hope we will be there at this event and other major events next year for sure.

This is good -- we need to see more of this! Since Valueplan has cleared the return proposal this morning, we definitely need to see more of this! I would love to see all of you go get what you need of that 200,000 HBD the community has just permitted VP to access.

India, Nigeria, Indonesia -- that's where Chainalysis says we need to be focusing right now (and, of course, I will speak up for the United States, in place 4), without forgetting the UK at place 12 (and I think Venezuela is in place 11, but Venezuela is not letting itself be overlooked anyhow on Hive)!

The thing I am interested in getting here is readers (otherwise known as content consumers). We are very good at getting creatives, but who sees or reads or listens to them? The vast majority of people want to just consume and click (like/vote/emoji) and they are prepared to pay to do it. Medium and Patreon are the niche competitors here and Hive has a much better deal going on for readers and writers alike.

I agree ... the thing is, Valueplan is interested in promotion ... so if somehow ... okay, big readers' associations, book clubs, literary events ... Valueplan wants to get eyes on Hive, and you want to get eyes on Hive's writers ... there's a win-win in there somewhere...

Yes, I would work with Oggadoon to provide the media promotion. I've set it out in the other conversation :)
