Whatsup Steemians,
I'm currently in Hakodate, Japan for one more night before heading to Tokyo for 8 days. Compared to the cities i have previously been like Tokyo, Sapporo and even Sendai, Hakodate is very calm and quite.
Although my friends and I only spent one full day here, it was nice to unwind and slow things down, as well as cool off from the humid heat of Sendai and Tokyo.
So what does Hakodate have to offer? Well it has historical significance as a port city for western ships to dock, visit and trade back in the day. It is also still a fishing intensive city so the seafood is well priced and fresh as can be.
All this aside, I have to give props to the Hakodate exclusive food chain called Lucky Pierrot. From burgers and fries to curry and rice, this joint has a wide variety of food on the menu to keep you satisfied. This includes special burgers like this one my buddy got, not actually expecting it to be anything more than above average in size..
Luckily they provide a fork and knife for this one....
Meanwhile I was more than happy getting their pork cutlet curry two nights in a row..
Seems like they had a mascot as well....
Meow :P
So the first night we arrived there wasn't much time to do much besides roam the area and see what was around.
Old town hall inspired by Western architecture
For our one and only day in Hakodate we visited the Onuma Quasi-National Park in Onumacho. It was slightly raining off and on and the mosquitos were out in droves but the park itself is beautiful. With pathways leading through the bush to bridges taking you from island to island, it was a unique experience. We even managed to get off the main part at one point which made for a good time.
Those greens though
I'm on a boat!
One bridge of many
Another angle
See that bridge way out there past the Lily pads??
Lily Pads for days

Now I'll be making a dedicated post to my car spotting haul but here is Godzilla (R34 GTR) with a Toyota Chaser. I'll even throw in the Subaru WRX STI, who's owner didn't seem think the car deserved the picture.. or they just thought it was funny some foreigner was taking pictures of their cars.... This was all only 200 meters or so from my hotel.
Beautiful car.. so glad I got to see one in Japan :D
Another awesome car. 4 door to pack in your friends but enough power to get sideways :P
Can't forget the STI.. you can see the owner and his friends laughing in the background if you zoom in haha
After this short stay on Hakodate I'm just about ready for the controlled chaos that is Tokyo. I'm hoping I see some more awesome cars like these!
That's it for today Steemers, it's time for me to sleep!
Until next time!
Cheers,
