We're live on Fundition!

At the request of the steem community, The Utopian team have decided to bring the Fundition campaign closer than they had planned to. Now, you can support the Utopian Colony Fundraiser campaign on Fundition as officially announced in this post.

This is important because it opens up the possibilities for a lot of pro-crypto users on and beyond the steem ecosystem to support the campaign without reverting to fiat or typing in their credit card details online. While there is a guaranteed level of safety on Indiegogo, not everyone is comfortable giving away sensitive financial details on a website (no matter how safe it claims to be). I know this because I am one of such skeptics and this single fact had kept me from supporting the project up until now.

However, with the ability to support the platform with Steem on Fundition, the step seems easier and more intuitive for me. Hence, I have put together this walkthrough post to inform and invite steem community users to participate in the campaign as well as to guide those who have not backed a project on Fundition before.

How to back Utopian Colony on Fundition.io

First off, you need a steem account. If you don't have any, you can get one with your credit card at Steem Ninja or anonymously with cryptocurrencies on Anon steem.

Next, you need to fund your steem account. You can do that by buying steem on exchanges and withdrawing to your steemit account directly. You can also convert other cryptocurrencies to Steem and have them sent to your account in a few clicks using blocktrades without having to buy steem on exchanges first. You should have at least $10 worth of steem to support the Campaign and earn the Dreamer badge.

Once you have steem in your account, click on this link to get on the Fundraiser page on Fundition.io. This is how the page looks like:

At the top right corner of the screen, click on the silhouette figure to login with your steem account. This requires verification through Steemconnect and may require your active key. If successful, the silhouette figure should be replaced by your steem account avatar and you get something like this at the top:

Scroll down while checking the right-hand side of the webpage to choose your preferred bundle (this is categorized according to the amount you're willing to give in support). In my case, I wanted to give $10, so I picked the Dreamer bundle by clicking on the "Choose this reward" button below the bundle description texts. I have highlighted it with a rectangle to aid visibility.

Once you click on your preferred bundle, you'll be shown a number of payment options. You can choose to pay with Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum, you can pay with Steem or Tron, and you can pay with Paypal. For the purpose of this walkthrough, I will choose steem.

The next page shows the steem equivalent of $10 which is 20.642 Steem as at the time of writing. The interface also shows your liquid steem and Sbd balance in your steem account. Hence, you will be able to tell if you have enough fund to back up a project. Hitting the big Confirm button lets you choose the currency you want to use between Steem and SBD. Select what you have to give.

At this point, all you have to do is input a name and an email address. You can choose to type in "Anonymous" or leave it blank to remain anonymous. Once you click on confirm payment, you are redirected to Steemconnect's API on a new browser tab to approve payment. Again, this will require your active key and the exact amount will be sent to Utopian-io.

Upon successful completion of the donation, you should get a congratulatory message on Steemconnect. The Funds would have been sent from your steem account by then.

I believe that building the Utopian Colony will make for an even better and more community-centric ecosystem for Utopian.io and will, in turn, contribute greatly to the growth and success of every opensource project out there.
