New Proposed Icon for Crowdsourcing Experiments

This is my new proposed icon design for the android application "Crowdsourcing Experiments", designed using Adobe Illustrator. The features of this app is right down below:

To help researchers perform experiments using the present technological capabilities of our handheld devices. Crowdsourcing experiments was created to help researchers by allowing crowdsourced data be used by simply accessing their app. More

Design Concept:
The idea was to create a simple and modern icon design. Since it is a crowdsourced app, I used a circle that resembles people's head surround the circle that symbolizes teamwork/unity while the lightbulb is a symbolism for ideas. I believe this is a fitting icon for the app and can be a better alternative to the current icon.

Benefits / Improvements
Design is cleaner and modern and brings a fresh look to the app. It is much easier for the eyes compared to the current logo and it is easily associated to the use of the app unlike the vague icon design of the current.

Tools
I used Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 version for both design and presentation. Here are some screenshots for proof of works.

First i made a big circle for the backgroud.

Then smaller circles as the 'heads'. I outlined them by 4 points to give it definition.

4 'heads' were utilized to complete the icon.




I created the lightbulb by first making a circle.

Then i overlayed on it a small rectangle.

By using the pathfinder tool, i combined the two elements to turn it into a lightbulb.

then i added a small detail to complete my lightbulb.
