The hot new crypto craze is Cryptokitties. This is a sort of game that is based on the Ethereum blockchain. I assume it uses some form of smart contracts to define the rules. People are going crazy for buying these cats for some serious money. Is it possible to implement something similar on the Steem blockchain? I'm not sure if we have quite the same capabilities for smart contracts, but there may be ways to exchange data in transfer messages. It can even be encrypted.
Many people have no interest in blogging, but they will spend hours playing silly little games like Farmville, Candy Crush etc. They will buy add-ons that earn the companies millions. What if they could do this on Steem? They could earn by posting progress updates, videos etc.
So how about 'Steem Snakes'? Or maybe something else.
As I'm not really into such games I'd want the option to not see the posts relating to them.
I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars

We should have games as plug-ins on the steemit interface. I wanna pull up a sidebar and play a hand of steem hold 'em against whoever else is around for a few steems every hour or two, lol. Or Steem Pong or Steem Snake or whatever we wanna do.
That's one small way that Facebook dominated... they captured a lot of boredom/lost attention by making it possible for developers to build silly games into their platform.
Steem Snake actually sounds really freakin awesome!
Blog Puppies - that's the game we need. You breed a puppy and train it to sniff out good blog posts. you get rewards, and a bigger puppy the more you train it.
But here's the kicker. The puppy is MORTAL! It can get starved, it can bet poisoned by digging up bad posts. And it will also age and die (and just do weird puppy stuff, like eat your shoes) so eventually you have to train a new puppy.
I'm not sure how to code this. But it would be a fun game. The puppy breeders and trainers would not need to care about the actual posts, all they care about is training their puppy and unleashing it to dig stuff up and get rewards.
The good posts that get dug up get featured on Steemit a bit like the trending page, maybe sorted by breed of puppy....
Someone with a bent for animation could have a field day with this. AND we could start to claim the interweb back for puppies, and break the cat monopoly once and for all!!
Power to the puppies!!
Haha ! Love that !
The more options we have to spend steem on, the better.
I second this! We need our own SteemDog! He might eat up the "Cat"
I met the Steemit dog at Steemfest :D Nice idea Steve!
Haha that would be pretty cool, the STEEM network can handle it better than Ethereum too!
Exactly. They keep boasting about the Steem bandwidth. This would be a real test
I have spent an embarrassingly large amount of time playing Farmville if a game like that could be implemented on top of the Steem blockchain it would be huge.
Games on the STEEM blockchain would be cool... hopefully something a bit more engaging than Crypto Kitties though!
Things happen very quick on steemit. We have a game

I wouldn't mind making some artwork for such a game.
I'd love to see that
I was thinking the same after seeing this cryptokitties crazy fashion...
We could do that better here ;-)
We have lots of talented artists here who could contribute. I like your work
you are right indeed, a lot of talented artists are choosing Steemit, this is fantastic, and there is great quality of artwork around here ^_^
yeah, just keep the steem snakes away from the @steembirds :D
Haha
Just hearing of cryptokitties this eve and @steevc has already brought out idea
Crazy but makes sense
Steem should consider this.
But not Steem snakes cause some people I know are someone afraid of snakes, let's go with "Steem ninja"
Interestingly enough, I'm here because of a "game". I joined because I was playing @crowdini. Simple, low-effort games like that could be a good draw. I heard about cryptokitties yesterday and I'm considering jumping into that too but it looks like a lot of work.
Either kind of addition to steem would probably work though. Good idea, imo.
I've seen some simple games here, but there's lots more potential and I know we have and clever people who could deliver something
Have you tried Crowdini yet?
Not yet. This is the first I heard of it
Cool. Well I hope you will give us a try and see if this is something you were referring to in this post.
Off course @steevc.. Its a great idea to bring some game module in steem blockchain..as you said now the gaming platform makes millions in single day. Simple games like snake, Ludo like other board games. If it comes in our steem blockchain, they can contribute a huge cap..that will makes the steem graph high.. Mind sports IO were already implement this in block chain in certain other ways..Hope for the best.. thanks for sharing..
Excellent article. I fully support your idea. Million people are playing games, so let them play better at Steemit.
Wow... That would be so much fun sir...
I love your insightful content.....
I perceive you are a game lover @steevc
Did you read to the end? Lol
