Hello to the Readers!
This article is a contribution post containing some suggestion for Chain Reaction, an open source game on android.
Chain Reaction – Android Game Suggestion
What is Chain Reaction (Android Game)?
An open-source strategy game on android for 2 to 8 players. The objective of Chain Reaction is to take control of the board by eliminating your opponents' orbs. Players take it in turns to place their orbs in a cell. Once a cell has reached critical mass the orbs explode into the surrounding cells adding an extra orb and claiming the cell for the player. A player may only place their orbs in a blank cell or a cell that contains orbs of their own colour. As soon as a player looses all their orbs they are out of the game. Game features both HD modes for larger (Pad) screens and the regular mode for all devices. Each player can customise the colour & sounds of their orbs. A player can also turn tactile feedback (vibration) on and off.
What would be the Suggestion?
From the title itself, the suggestion would be the addition of " Individual Player Timer and Play/Pause The Game " on Chain Reaction. The suggestion states that in every gameplay, each player should have " time limit ", meaning a player will be given a specific span of time to think, decide and make a move before the next player makes his move too. Furthermore, the game must have a " Pause " and " Play ". The format would somehow be like this...
Current Format
This is the photo before the game starts. The blocks are still blank since no player yet started to make a move as well as the Play and Pause option is not appearing yet. The player who will make a move can be determine easily since the colors of the blocks will change responding to the color of the player to make a move, however, it's better if the player will be declared to make it clear and to avoid confusion. Also, the players are not yet determine so that's why the timer also is not appearing.
Suggested Format
1. The game must have " Play or Pause " Button
Since the game will be Played and Paused, the players will be given the opportunity to take a break and later on resume the game. I will give an Example situations from which this option is needed and thus, applicable.
" The players are students and then they have a vacant time. Since they are quite bored, they decided to play Chain Reaction. Time passes by, the game became more fun and exciting for them and then later on, they have realized that their class will resume any second from the moment they have played the game. Since the game became more fun and exciting for them, they have no other choice but to take a break for a while. Their only option is to Pause the game and after their class, they will just Resume the game. " So that's why this feature/option will be helpful in such situation.
2. The " Player to Make a Move " will be declared as well as the " Player Timer "
The purpose of this feature/option is to determine who will be the next player to make a move. Also, since the player to make a move will be known, the timer immediately starts to run. I suggest that the maximum time for each player to think, decide and will make a move will be one minute only.
What would be its Benefits?
♣ The game will become more fun, not time consuming and challenging to play with friends and/or A.I.
♣ In real life application, it would help the players to enhance their time managing skills as well as their capacity to think and make a quick response in order for them not to lose in the game.
♣ It would provide fairness to all players since they will be given similar span of time to think and make a move.
♣ It would help the players to enjoy more their playing moments with Chain Reaction and spending time together.
♣ New feature and development for the said open-source android game.
