The Python Package Fantasy Premier League is a game where you score points depending on the performance of your players in the Premier League, the top level of the English football league system. This is my logo proposal for @amosbastian and his Fantasy Premier League project.

My task was to submit logo design concepts that merge the Premier League and Python logos, incorporating their respective animals. The biggest challenge was to essentially combine two already existing, very recognizable logos, while delivering something that is distinguishable between the two.

The lion, being the largest of the two animals, was going to be the dominant figure, so I started there. I wanted to model the style of the lion's face after the Premier League's lion, but I chose to face it forward to avoid looking identical from the original.

I knew that I wanted to wrap the python around the lion's head, however, I didn't want it to seem as if the lion was being strangled. I very much wanted both animals to appear as if they were working together. One of my largest concerns moving forward was that the Python would become lost in the image. In order to solve this, I added short strokes of light so the viewer can see the twists and curves of they Python at a glance, but without cluttering the icon with busy line-work and too many details.

As far as the color palette and typography, I mostly followed the branding of the Premier League. I think this helps users familiar with the league understand that this is in fact a fantasy game associated with it.

Benefits / Improvements

  • Recognizable on its own, while independent from the Premier League and Python logos.
  • Successfully merges two animals while maintaining visual simplicity.
  • Useful in all applications (print, web, mobile) and flexible in orientation.

It looks fantastic. I believe that I did not see some of the colour variations in your initial proposals.

This one looks good too, I mean on the black background.

Thanks! I'm not sure why I didn't consider adding all the color variations in my original comment. Probably would've helped my case haha. I guess I figured I'd save it for this blog post.

You have a minor grammatical mistake in the following sentence:

Recognizable on it's own, while independent from the Premier League and Python logos.
It should be its own instead of it's own.

Nice.. look like i fond a real designer here.

It's an untapped market. Trying to make my mark ;)

leave a trace. 🤪
btw, u need to fixed the source file and font link. look at this for your reference about how to create deliver correct logo files.

I separated each variation into separate vector files and I added a link to the font. I think that covers everything. This is my first Utopian post, so I'm still figuring out all the rules lol.

I could say first version of the files in your google drive was covering enough except I might miss the ready to use version as a png file I'm not sure tho.
We usually looking for a vector version preferable in svg, eps or pdf for scalability and the source file to be able to get an opinion about authorship. And of course ready to use assets, if it's a website, better to provide a logo and favicon, if it's a mobile application you know the drill.
And for the presentation/post, it's better to display size and color alternatives.
