Introduction

1UP is an automated hivemind solution for quality curation. It takes out the need for Steem Power to give value to a post by rewarding the best posts with a large curation trail upvote. In this blog post you will learn more about the ideas for the next version of the 1UP voting system. This includes the new community settings and the unique community pages.

Status Quo

The 1UP developer @stoodkev has done a marvelous job to add voting directly to the 1UP homepage. Additionally, you can now find all eligible posts under the New tab. However, due to the Utopian page being hacked and under construction no posts can be shown for now. This will change once Utopian.io is up and running again.

1UP Will Open To Everyone

When the 1UP upvote system was created it aimed at the Utopian community alone. But the future of 1UP are ALL communities. That means opening the system to allow everyone to create their own voting ecosystems. This will give the entire Steem blockchain at once a tool to create high profitable curation trails executed via the 1UP hivemind voting system where everyone has the same voice. The result is fair and effective curation of the community members combined with an incentive to create better quality posts in order to receive more 1UPs.

New Functions

Community Settings

A new user can login to 1UP via SteemConnect. After that the user can create a new community or open an existing one. In the community settings you can set a title for the new community. Further, you can set the peremiters of the community via black and white lists for members. These will define whose posts will be pulled into the 1UP community or whose will not. Alternatively (or maybe even combined), you can use tag filters where you pull all posts from certain categories.

Community Voting Pages

The result will be a list of posts which will appear on the new community page on the 1UP homepage. Here they can be voted upon with the 1UP button. The voting timer can also be set in the settings of the community. You can decide how often and how strong the system will upvote. The default is 2.4 hours with 100% voting weight as this will keep voting power equilibrium of the trail account.

Admins and Moderators

Finally, there needs to be an option to connect the trailing front account that triggers the curation trail as well as the optional whale account that follows the trail and increases the profitability. As the owners of these account might be different to the community admin there will be an option to give access to additonal people who can then connect via SteemConnet and give the permissions to the community.

Voter Rewards

To incentivize the voting behaviour as well as pay for the costs of the platform we will offer a reward system that can be edited in the settings as well. Each given 1UP can be worth an amount X in upvote strength of the trail. To pay out this reward to 1UP and all participants we can create an automated weekly update for the community via the 1UP account. This post is being upvoted by an amount yet to be defined. For the participants we can use their account access via SteemConnect to post a comment in their name under that post and upvote it with the value they have earned over the week. A similar system is being used for the Utopian moderator payouts.

With this new system everyone can create their own communities and give them a gamified voting solution that can be improved with a sponsored whale account.
