The 1UP project is getting closer to become a real power house for quality posts on the Utopian platform. As we speak the integration of 1UP into Steem-Plus is happening to add an entire new voting system to Utopian.io. If you would like to learn more about the curation trail check out the posts below.

Current 1UP Logo
The current logo is really cool but as I learned it is a Nintendo trademark (they reserved the rights in 2015). In order to avoid future problems with that we should start fresh and clean with a proper unique 1UP mascot/logo. So here is the task for you illustrators, pixelartists and logo creators out there:
Contest Criteria
- Design a new 1UP Mascot
- Only pixelart will be accepted (big pixels like the original!)
- The design must look clear in small and in big
- Mushrooms are allowed but not mandatory
- It mustn't resemble the Nintendo original
- It must be a square shape
- It must use the Utopian logo colors
- Besides the colors it mustn't be related to Utopian.io
- All contributions will automatically be open source
- The mascot must be in high resolution (at least 1000x1000px)
- Source file must be included fur further editing (.PSD or .AI format)
- Only one contribution per person
- Only quality designs will be accepted!
- All contributions must refer and link to to this post
- You must use the tag #1UP for your contribution post
- You must enter your contribution via Utopian.io
- Use the repository

Winning Conditions
- The winner will be manually selected by myself
- The winner will receive 5SBD (currently worth over $50 USD)
- All accepted contributions will receive a 1UP upvote from the trail
- All accepted contributions will receive a @utopian-io bot upvote
- The last contribution will be accepted on December 21st at 12pm CST

I'll always disagree with "logo" contests.
It completely devalues the work of digital artists and logo creators in general.
Even at the current value of SBD, $50 for a logo is trash.
You could easily get exactly what you want by dealing with creators directly and paying them properly for their time.
I think people like @eqko and @malicered would agree with me.
Pay artists what they deserve and get exactly what you're looking for.
Edit...at least it comes with a utopian upvote. Makes the effort with it.
All of the contributors have earned ~$40 from 1UP and Utopian upvotes. Some much more. That is at current market value over $315 for EVERY SINGLE CONTRIBUTOR! That is MORE than I payed @eqko for the logo he made me - AND I didn't pay for it form my own pocket - AND I got tons of cool alternative logos to pick from - AND I still pay $5SBD on top of it which is another $70 for the winner.
I would, wouldn’t it be for the fact that it depends on the time involved. In this case, flauwy being someone that payed topdollar for artwork I made for him, I did submit a mascotte for this. Also seeing as it automatically gets a utopian upvote worth 40 sbd I think it’s not to bad actually at the moment (hoping sbd remains this high till payout).

It will be a bit hard not to resemble the nintendo original as there aren't many variations you can do with a mushroom considering it must be pixelated, but I'll try my best.
