Let's face it at some point, you've actually needed a way to style your texts on Steemit. Be it to reduce the font-size, add lists or even add those horizontal rules you find on other posts. I've been here before and I'll show you the hard way and of course the easy way. Bear in mind that, the hard way will make you feel like a super user - nerdy and accomplished, even though it won't add any $$$ to your account. Let's get started.
The Hard Way
Font Sizes
As you read this tutorial, you'll notice the different heading sizes based on the relevance to the page. Achieving this is very simple. In your post editor, typing '#' and then a space before your text will give you the highest size possible for a heading text. This is shown below
The font sizes can be adjusted by increasing the number of pound symbols. For example, to achieve a size of text a bit smaller than the biggest size, you have 2 '#' symbols. This is also demonstrated below.
Font Style
Having treated font-sizes, it is only logical that we apply some styles. Don't you think?
To have Italics, simply precede and end the block of text with asterisks (*).
As shown above, there should be no space between the block of text and the asterisk.
Again, you can have bold text or even both by increasing the number of asterisks. This is demonstrated below.
Center Alignment
To align text to the center, simply place the text in-between

. That is, say we want to centralize my name which is Christian Jombo, we would write
Christian Jombo

. This is shown below.
Horizontal Rule or Line
To have a horizontal line, you can use three asterisks each seperated by a space like this * * *
. Here is what it looks like.
Other ways of achieving the same effect are given below.
Lists
Having lists to describe steps or items in your post is always great. You can achieve this by using asterisk, plus or minus signs followed by a space before your text. This is shown below.
The Easy Way
Like I mentioned earlier, there is an easy way of achieving all this text styles if doing things the hard way is not your thing.
Step 1
When you open your post editor on steemit.com, you'll notice an 'Editor' text to the right, under the title. The text is highlighted in the image below.
Step 2
Click on this link and it will change the editor from what it was to this.
You can now select any of the effects or text style you want to use.
In all, I hope you found this post informative and valuable. Kindly follow me @christianjombo, upvote this tutorial, comment if you have any challenges or have discovered a better way and of course resteem. Thank you.
