Components

Lichess is a free adless chess playing server with several tournaments available every minute. These tournaments are referred to "Arena".

Arena pairing

At the beginning of the tournament, players are paired based on their rating.
As soon as you finish a game, return to the tournament lobby: you will then be paired with a player close to your ranking. This ensures minimum wait time, however you may not face all other players in the tournament.
Play fast and return to the lobby to play more games and win more points.

Proposal Description

I suggest there is a chat room in the tournament lobby.

How the Chat room will appear on the app.

When a player finishes a game in the arena, he returns to the lobby. The lobby only shows the Leaderboard.
For the Chat room, there would be two tabs in the lobby, one for the Leaderboard and the other for the Chatroom. So when a player finishes his game and returns to the lobby, he his either in the Leaderboard tab or the Chat room table, that depends on which he was before he was paired.
This is also available for tournament spectators, i.e players not participating in the tournament.

So when you click on chatroom, it takes you to the chat room, when you click leaderboard, it shows you the Leaderboard.

Benefits

At times when a player is waiting to be paired it takes longer time to be paired especially in longer time games, so the chatroom will be to minimize time wasting while waiting for pairing. And the chat room will be the general chatroom for all spectators of the tournament.
