Useless fact of the week
Welcome to the second episode of my weekly fact series. Today we will take a closer look at Finland and it's culture. It's not only known for its wonderful nature with thousands of lakes, it is also the country with the largest amount of metal bands per inhabitant. Those are well known facts indeed and that's why we will skip this part.
Whats not commonly known is, that even Finnish children grew up with metal. They have a popular metal band especially for the youngest - "Hevisaurus". On stage they wear full body dinosaur costumes and sing about child-friendly content, unlike most other metal bands.
The band was founded by the drummer of Thunderstone (another finnish metal band) in 2009. The identity of the other members is a well guarded secret since then. Not long after their funding, their fame begun to increase. In fact the band was a huge success, selling well over 170000 copies in Finland until 2014. Even the Finnish charts where no big deal, as they even reached the top position in 2012 and stayed on top for 18 weeks.
Based on this success, Sony as the label of Hevisaurus, decided to expand the sphere of influence of dinosaur-metal to Germany. A new band was founded, which copied and translated the songs for the german children, but it lacks behind in terms of success. Nothing can beat a Original and the finnish love for metal!
Hope I see you next week, have a nice day :)
