Vagaries Of Life: My Entry into @surpassinggoogle's #Untalented Contest 2

in #untalented7 years ago

Steemians, greetings...

This this is my entry into second episode of @surpassinggoogle #untalented contest, which requires participants to make a post with respect to their life before and after joining steem(it) blockchain.

Actually, life before joining steem(it) was comparable to a piece of paper tossed into a raging wind and consequently being swayed about by wind current. It was a life with vision but lacks requisite ingredients to position it on a solid path towards actualizing the conceived vision. And so can be said to be somewhat more like a directionless type of life. Yet I cannot feign unawares because whenever I was alone, I'd always remind myself:

'Guy, what's up? This is not the type of life you wanna live. Where you are now isn't where you should be. You have always wanted to be a great academic, dishing out works that are publishable on renown international journals. You desire to be a great contributor to the body of knowledge. You have always wanted to be a researcher; an internationally recognized colossus in the field you have profound interest in. So what's going on, man?'

'Was it because of the accident and the years you spent recuperating? Or the neglect of your Alma mater? You just have to find a way out of this logjam.'

So although I was caught in a vocation I had never imagined, I was aware of it; I know I would have to do something. It has always been my aspiration to get into something that would keep me writing, even if I can't get to practice my utopian profession. I had tried some businesses and had actually made some money and was able to buy a car, yet I was a living ghost; I wasn't living a fulfilled life.

Ponzi Experience

The desire to get into some level of financial buoyancy to sponsor an MSc degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, led me into being part of what would later leave me penniless. This is an aspect of my life I don't like to talk about. But for the sake of this all important contest by a Steemian I have great respect for, I just have to summon courage and talk about it.

With some appreciable amount of money I made from my inter-border business, I was on the verge of embarking on processes to secure visa when a friend of mine told me of some money multiplying schemes, where I am guaranteed 100% ROI in 7 days. As I wanted to engage him in an argument, he received an alert of a sum of hundred thousand Naira, which was only a minor proceeds from his ponzi investment, according to him.

So I bought into the scam and started investing my hard earned money. To cut the long story short, I not only lost all my money and my car, but I was also left heavily indebted to people. Thus Canadian education dream has to be put on hold and every other thing.

Life After I Join Steem Blockchain

However, I don't totally regret my participation in ponzi because without it, I would have come to know about steem blockchain. My life since I came to know steem blockchain has changed from bad to good. Yes. Although this is not in terms of money but at least in terms of actually practicing what has always been my desire — writing.

I strongly believe I am on the right track a day really I am. I am gradually rebuilding my life. I have made friends — great and trusted pals from afar and within Nigeria. I am acquiring knowledge on daily basis. My blogging dreams are being fulfilled gradually. More than anything else, my doubts about earning genuine income on internet without involving in fraudulent activities, have been disproven.

I honestly don't intend giving up here; I will reach out to the like minds and join forces to run a scheme that would impact positively on this community. We will certainly build 'paradise' here; not necessarily in terms of money but in terms of positive impacts.

My gratitude goes to @surpassinggoogle for this rare opportunity. Thanks for reading.

Hello @eurogee
You have gone through sad experiences but I think it all turned you into the better person that you are. There will be restoration of the wasted years.... You just wait and see.
@edith4angelseu

To cut the long story short, I not only lost all my money and my car, but I was also left heavily indebted to people. Thus Canadian education dream has to be put on hold and every other thing.

@eurogee even you!!. Chai we plenty be that o. The ponzi ruin my bank balance. If i had used the money for steemit then i would be a comfortable dolphin. My mind reads about it everyday. Through it I learnt alot and made me a crypto enthusiasts. Now, i know i that good experiences on steemit is a redefining opportunity. Thank you for sharing this.

My neighbour went on the run after he used their club member's money for a ponzi that failed. I felt sorry for him because he didn't know it was ponzi, he thought it was a legit business due to how it's packaged. Some of them come nicely packaged, with offices, people you know etc. It's a sad reality.

Talking about ponzi
Let me hid my face
Ponzi took @samiwhyte and friends up, then brought us down lower than where it met us

Hello @turpsy

Hahahahahsh.. You amuse me. What do you mean by 'even me?'. Na the same thing wey carry you go carry me go. However, we thank God that through it, we come to know about crypto world, which more rewarding. Thanks

@eurogee

Looks good to see a brother from that dark side of the world called the Ponzi World. Surprisingly, you'd think people would have learned their lesson and know to keep off ponzi, how dead wrong you would be to think so. There are still thousands, if not millions in Nigeria, looking for that proverbial shortcut even as I type. I tried unsuccessfully to recruit them here, but the allure of 100% ROI is just too much to be beaten by steemit (at least they would like to think that).
Keep hope alive. Keep steeming. ✌️

True
People still spam my whats app with several links to join one or the other restructured ponzi as they refer to it as sure one

Hello @greenrun

A lot of them are still playing ponzi game when everything is very clear that these fraudulent schemes are sustainable.

After our woeful lost, my group then wanted to float their own ponzi with me as the head. I disagreed with them based on the fact that the end is always suicidal for some and I don't wanna be part of such arrangement. Everyone gave up because I did.

Steemit is home for the homeless indeed.

@eurogee

So I bought into the scam and started investing my hard earned money

I can never forget MMM & Ultimate cycle...😧😧
I curse the day i knew about them
Well, am also thanking them cause without them i wont have discovered blockchain or even know the word crypto.

The funny thing for me was that I made some money from ultimatecycler and ended up loosing it in MMM

You are actually very right. It was such a terrible road one once passed. Soon our story will change for better. Thanks for your thought

@eurogee

We were scarred one way or the other by ponzi schemes. My uncle lost more than a million naira. Glad some Nigerians are gradually seeing the light.

Steemit will give you your dreams back Sir.
Thank you for sharing this. 😃
@eurogee

Thanks brother for going through my articles. Sure we will all recover by his grace. Thank God.

@eurogee

Hmmm it's a sad experience all through the ponzi stuff. Something I don't want to talk about too. I believe Steem blockchain will make for better.

Yes. We should all work for it.

Well, I'm glad steemit brought us together.
It's not how many times one falls that count, It's how many times he stood.
You're a strong man and good uncle(Uncle Euro)
#Euronation

Hello @sussan

It's not how many times one falls that count, It's how many times he stood

This is actually part of my personal philosophy. I had failed a hundred times and was able to stand. So I will still stand again.

Thanks for your insights

@eurogee

Your experience is very easy to relate to. If you asked around Steemit especially from Nigerian folks, you would discover that most of us have fallen for these ponzi schemes at one time or the other. That's why most people tend to be very skeptical about steemit at first. We can only thank God for an authentic and rewarding blockchain like this. Keep steeming! More steem to your wallet!

Yours truly,
@ajremy

Hello @ajremy

You are actually right. Ponzi constitute a season in Nigeria. Almost all of us were victims. We had learnt our lessons. Thank God.

@eurogee

If not for the traumatic experience some of us had with the plethora of ponzi schemes on the horizon many months back, and the growing hopelessness that come with joblessness, many of us wouldn't have known anything about steemit blockchain. Learning through the hard way do pay a times long live steemit blockchain.

Lol.. Very funny pics u displayed on your Post. I don't think there's any youth in Nigeria that didn't fall for ponzi.
