Today being the 40th day of @arcjen02 on steemit happen to be just perfect for me to share with you The Untalented Amazing Adjustments Since I found Steemit. So, please stay with me as I take you through the process and the adjustments Steemit have done to my untalented life.
Down Memory Lane Before I Found STEEMIT
I can say without mincing words that I really had a rough 2017 with lots of challenges especially during my final year as an undergraduate student of the prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri. I had plenty of debts to pay, my final year project was really close, my rent had expired and I had a whole lot of pressing needs I needed to attend to. Life felt so unfair and I was so unhappy most of the time until I found Steemit.
How I Found Steemit
I wouldn't say "I found steemit" I would rather say "Steemit found me" about seven months ago while I was looking for answers to my financial problems which were nagging at that time. I had plenty of debts to pay, my final year project was really close, my rent had expired and I had a whole lot of pressing needs I needed to attend to. My brother @prechi heard about steemit from @samstickkz who gave a detailed explanation of how the system works and then I decided to try steemit out and see what God has in store for me.
Steemit and I
I opened my first account in June with the name @arcjen and what to write was a huge problem for me, I couldn't cope with the system. Everyday I come online go through lots of great post on the trending page and feel bad about my situation of not being able to write something good. So I returned to facebook with the believe that steemit is not for me because i wasn't a good writer.
The Adjustment Process.
I needed to perfect the act of writing so I could play with the big boys of steemit so, two months ago I decided to prepare for a come back which I did and my first post was Be That Kind of Lady... I got 30 upvotes and a payout of $2.35. Now that is great compared to my highest payout before that day which was just 49 cents and I even promoted that post paying 20 cents to null.
I got carried away by that payout and decided to steal write-ups from facebook (hahaha). On my first attempt, Steemcleaners visited, they downvoted the post and my reputation dropped to 13 from 42. Now, that alone would have ended my steemit story but this brought me to the real adjustment.
The Adjustment Proper.
After my account was flagged, I decided to start all over again so I opened this account and before confirmation I had started writing some articles on paper and my first post was on ectrodactyly. The post got a crazy amount of up-votes and then all of a sudden my reputation read 6 and all SBD from that post was lost. I tried opening the post and it read "This post was hidden due to low ratings".
Oh no I have been flagged!!
I quickly ran to steemed.com to know who did that and guess what. It was @steemcleaners (again) and @blacklist-a downvoting that post at -23% and -10% respectively dropping my reputation to 6. Now that is massive right??
Truth be told, i felt real bad, not because I was down-voted but because after reading the comment made by @steemcleaners, I discovered I only want to get better just for the SBD and also, I realized I was a BIG thief who couldn't acknowledge the good works of the persons i copied from. Then it dawned on me that I needed to turn a new leaf and become a better writer.
So that was the beginning of my adjustment. I decided not to run away but rather stay back and see steemit through. I started writing better articles without stealing. Though the payout was not much compared to other persons I look up to, I learnt how to stay focus, patient and penitent.
The Adjustment So Far.
Words will fail me if I am to immensely spell out all the adjustments but I will try to leave you with a few which includes,
- I have gotten better in the act of writing compared to some months ago when I just don't know what to do when I pick the pen.
- Time management was a huge problem for me before steemit but today I have learnt how to allocate time to important activities of life.
- Going through @surpassinggoogle's blog and some other contents published by members of the #untalented family I learnt there is more to steemit than SBD. One day i came accross a post by @ogochukwu titled You Are A Brand : How To Enjoy The Dividends Of SMT's. To cut story short I would say Steemit has taught me; Worth, Hard-work, patience, and commitment
- Finally Steemit gave me friends, by this I mean good friends. I may not be physically connected to these friends but they have really effected great changes to my writing, and for that i remain grateful.
Today it's a different story compared to when I started my first account months ago. This account today is just 40 days old with a reputation of 52. I remember it took my first account two months before it got to 26. Now that means solid progress, right?
Gratitude.
Special Thanks to @surpassinggoogle who had given thousands opportunities via the Untalented initiative, may God bless you.
I will also love to use this medium to say thanks to a few more persons, including:

You've kept me alive from day one.
At the point I will like to stop typing not because I don't have more to tell but because I believe all you have read is enough to pass my message.
