We have been hearing about the Perils of Automation, Computers, and Artificial Intelligence for decades now.. People say that "The computers are going to take all of the Jobs", this has not happened as swiftly as many expected, however it has certainly happened, and it is soon to become a much more Substantial factor.
The next wave of Commerce, is Conversational. Customers, will spend much of their time, Speaking to voice assistants like Alexa and Siri, and with Text messaging with Smart AI Bots. These assistants and Bots, will be able to help the consumer with Everything including : ['Customer Service', 'Sales', 'Shipping and Logistics',' Returns and Cancellations'], Everything that a human sales rep, or customer service rep does today ,the Bots will do in a few years.
According to one Technology Insider , AI and smart assistants will replace 50% + of all Jobs within the next decade :
"These are things that are superhuman, and we think this will be in every industry, will probably replace 50 percent of human jobs, create a huge amount of wealth for mankind and wipe out poverty," Lee said, later adding that he expected that displacement to occur in the next 10 years. " - Kai-Fu Lee, founder of venture capital firm Sinovation Ventures and a top voice on tech in China.
Other estimates go as high as 80%.
In any case, we can fully expect a Future that does not Involve many available Jobs. Unless job seekers, are capable of Creating Software, or Maintaining computer hardware, there is a good chance that they will be unemployable.
Some type of Universal Basic Income, will soon no longer be a nice idea, it will be a Necessity.
Personally I think that, the following rights should be given to all humans (Safe & Comfortable housing, Clean & Healthy food, Clean drinking water, Clean Electricity, High speed internet, Life long education, Healthcare)
In order to provide all of these Rights, to all humans, I propose the following strategy :
- Install Solar Panels on all subsidized Residences in the Country. All Excess electricity that is accumulated, will be donated to the UBI pool.
- Install high speed computers in all subsidized Residences, Install crypto currency mining machines, that will run all day. After all Home expenses are paid for by the Mined tokens, and the Resident is provided with a sufficient salary, the excess funds will be donated to the UBI pool.
Subsidized Residences will in essence replace the Fed, and Big Fossil Fuel, while simultaneously eliminating Poverty.
What are your thoughts?
I think that there must be some sort of job guarantee. Scarcity in the money supply that prevents this sort of thing is as simple as an act of Congress. There is plenty of work that needs done updating American infrastructure to support millions of jobs. Construction jobs are unlikely to be automated in the next ten years. We need to get Americans back to work, regardless of the industry, and Congress has the power to make it happen.
It's true what you say. Congress may have the power, but I am concerned that Congress, does not care too much for the masses. It seems that Congress, is concerned with pampering the elite.
There is a lot of potential in sites Just like Steemit, sites that can empower the masses, and give them a Step ahead.
In a knowledge community, knowledge spreads, and knowledge multiplies.
This is an interesting issue, one of the possibilities is the taxation of robots. This is based on the fact if a robot takes a job then it's productivity increase should be then accounted for in a Tax.
Its possibilities could be increased to an algorithm tax even.

i like this idea, as part of the solution. though measuring robot productivity could be challenging. consider the fact that a single chat bot, could replace an entire call center, or an entire company. thanks for your input
There lies the broad span of the problem, at the moment robot tax is aimed at physical robots in factories. Software, I think that is even less likely to be taxed.
I think this is a good idea. Personally, living in America, I doubt that this would ever happen in my lifetime; due to our resistance to substantial welfare programs.
I am very interested by how social class may be altered in a society with universal income. How do you suppose the wealthy (who are unable to own the robot-run companies) will keep their social and economic privileges?
This AI revolution is going to Destroy Rich and Poor alike. Tens of thousands of Companies and Organizations will go out of business.
I agree that it's unlikely that the US Govt will implement something like this, but I do think that the American People Can. We can build eco-Villages implementing these ideas, and we can build Community owned Co-Ops that build AI and new tech. =)
I wrote a post on this as well

I am however I a little concerned about the UBI until the robots do a lot of labour, such that it will be practically impossible for a large mass of people to find a job, in that position I think UBI might be inevitable, or at least something similar.
