Unemployment Payday in Spain what would you do with a 426€ Monthly wage?

in #unemployment8 years ago

Well today is a big day in Spain on the 10th of each month those people that are unemployed receive "ayuda del paro" which means unemployment help.

(Scroll to the bottom of this post to see my monthly budget in comparison to what is paid )

My work is seasonal as a turist guide (read about my work) which gives me about 7 months employement out of the year. Im expecting to start again in about 45 days time, also have BIG plans on posting about my excursions and promoting steemit to our guests.

This winter for the first time in nine years I have opted to go to the Paro (unemployment ofice) and claim benefits during the winter months.

Even with 2 children you get a meager 426€ a month which here in Mallorca doesnt get you very far. Nearly everything that we consume is brought from the outside which makes for expensive purchasing of anything.

Those workers that don't save while the turists are here have a tough time later.

So lets look at what 426€ gets you in Mallorca, my wife also claimed this years so total paycheck is 852€

-450€ Rent

-400€ Food and beverages for four people

-120€ negative bank balance

-200€ deposit for end of year school trip for our son

-100€ Internet and mobile

-50€  Food for x3 dogs and 2x cats

-50€  Dance Clases for our daughter

1320€ Total expenses not including clothes, leisure money, unexpected things like medicines or repairs.Don't forget its alsoValentine's day soon.

So that leaves a negative balance of 468€ lucky Feb is a short month

Your expenses are even low ! Im also waiting for my employment insurance to come in i was just laid off Feb3 ! In Canada our cheques are deposited every 2 weeks directly into our bank accounts , and we need to go on line and fill out our previous cards as to wheather or not we worked the previous 2 weeks , any amount worked is deducted from your cheque , i think you can only make a certain small amount before its deducted , im not sure yet how much my cheques will be for as it depends on how much i paid into it over the year and how much money i made ! Everyones is different !
The welfare system here pays once a month on the last Wednesday of the month . For any that cant get EI . Or dont work .
But for me my expenses are : rent , car insurance, food , cable and internet , hydro , cell phone , bank loan , and credit cards ! Theres no going out or haveing a life allowed ! Lol ! Steem on ! 👍

Canada is expensive from I can remember. I forgot to include our credit card expenses :( thanks for your awesme comment @karenmckersie

Yes ! And British Columbia the Provine i live in is the highest ! And your welcome ! I would cut off my phone if i didnt need it in case work calls me back!👍😉

I lived in Alberta, but spent quite a bit of time visiting BC, Also spent some time there while working on CP rail doing maintenance on the tracks

I spent 8 straight months claiming unemployment benefits in 2009 when the economy was really bad here in the US. It isn't easy. At least we didn't have kids yet. That would have made it more difficult. I hope your tourism season is highly productive. That's awesome that you promote Steemit to guests!

We are expecting another record breaking season this year, but most of the money lands in the pockets of tour operators and hotel chains, yeah I think it will be nice to organize small groups of people in a nearby bar ( which will accept steem as well I hope ) and explain cryptocurrencies and of course Steemit. By the way I havent posted about the last one yet but this morning I have managed to get a third bar to accept Steem all three bars are within one Kilometer from each other. Im super hyped about this, @karenmckersie might want to read this comment as well as she wrote an amazing reply you can read below :) Hopefully we can start a trend with this and kickstart a movement of steemit users that will promote the use of steem with merchants.

That would be awesome. That's how the value of Steem will soar - getting it accepted as a legitimate currency at a wide array of locations.

Yeyyyyy!!!! Its pay day!!! But i get i little bit more😜

Capullo!!! Jajajaja cuanto cobraste??

@mallorcaman

Gracias por el aporte, saludos ;) @mallorcaman

Interesante, me encantaria visitar. No pensaba que el coste de vida fuera tan alto. En todos lados buscamos la manera de sobrevivir, aqui en Espańa estamos mal acostumbrados y muchos no saben como remediar esta crisis un abrazo

Wow that sounds rough :( It seems very hard to just survive.

We do the best we can, at least we got crypto!
