My agenda for this weekend is for me and my parents to visit motherless (orphanage) home in Benin City at Sapele Road (Ugbor G. R.A, Benin City). We want to pay them a visit a give to them little support I know I can give to them both in cash, clothes and food items. I am presently in Benin City, Nigeria. The best time to gain complete happiness is the moment when you are able to help the needy.
Our tag for this weekend’s visit to the orphanage is “HELP THE CHILD”. It is very vital to help those children who are homeless and fatherless, because without our help and support, life becomes more miserable to them. The first time I visited the orphanage it was the EGHOSA Orphanage, located at 25/26, Oko-central, opposite the Redeem Christian Church off Airport road, Benin City, Edo State. We met just a single nurse treating all of the children in that orphanage. The children are more than 100 children in numbers. We visited them and went there with just 3 bags of garri (cassava meal) plus two bags of rice and beans. But the lady in charge of the orphanage told us that they use 1 bag of garri to make Eba for them weekly. That day I cried, I felt so bad.
The children are fun loving, the last time we visited them, we sang together, dance together, ate together. I also went there with small hand towel 15 pieces. I told them stories about school life; I encouraged them to be good to their teachers and aunt including their Matron (Mama). I discouraged them from fighting one another or making any form of violence.
I do feel sorrowful when I see people wasting food and giving the best to dogs instead of giving to the needy. No matter how small or how big, please note that they will appreciate it. And always have it in mind that the orphanage children are both our brothers and sisters from another parent. We need to show them love and care. We need to feed them, we need to clothe them. The most useless clothes you think they are no longer useful to you and you intend to burn then could be very useful to them.
On this Sunday as I shall be going there with my parents, I will take a box of my undersize clothes and shoes along with me. I have placed an order form Jumia online shopping store to supply me two mosquito nets since on Sunday and the product will be landing tomorrow morning.
For those of us who also have other person’s children living with us, should learn to show them love and give them the necessarily assistance they need. We should treat them like our children. Please don’t forget that Africa is one, Nigeria is one no matter the level of ethnicity and different languages. Please let love lead in your heart.
