ULOG  #2 WINI'S DAIRY:A SUPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY I THREW FOR A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE

Well I had a good day. So earlier today, I was bored, so I decided to go through pictures on my gallery. As I was scrolling through them, I saw a picture, about my friend, Roselyn’s birthday party. A birthday party which I planned for her , as a surprise in our class with the rest of our classmates. I was filled with so much joy as the memories rushed back and I thought, why not make it better by reminiscing and sharing the events of that day with steemians. Before I delve into the details of the party, let me start by sharing how we first met. On a hot afternoon back in my first year in university ,we had a departmental meeting, and like every other meeting between freshers and lecturers, at the end of the meeting there was room for questions. A darked skinned girl asked the very same question I had my hand raised to ask. However, the hall was so noisy o couldn't hear the reply the lecturer gave. So i approached her after the meeting closed, asked about the reply. She was so warm and welcoming that I thought to myself, she would make a good friend..and that was it.

She has been so good to me the 4 years we have known each other, that I decided to throw her a surprise birthday party on class.

At the beginning of the planning process , i met joy and esther @estheromoyiwola (two of our mutual friends) ,told them about the party and they became part of the planning committee.

joy decided to bring drinks ,esther planned on bring disposable cups and i decided to bake a cake for her as a birthday gift.

The day before the party Rose as we fondly call her, met Esther and I asking us what she should do about her birthday. Since we already did all the planning she could ever need, we discouraged her from doing anything party-like….lol...she was so clueless.

And so the day came.

I called her by 12 midnight and sang the happy birthday song to her and reminded her not to forget to bring the biscuits to class

We had class by 8 am ,the lecturer was already in class teaching and Roselyn hadn't showed up , i was worried so i called her , she said she had an errand to run, that she was on her way to class

I tried to call the person I asked to deliver the cake in class, to inform her not to pass the usual route to class, but her phone was switched off. We were supposed to meet at a predetermined location. I was worried the cake would arrive late after the allotted time or that she would run into Roselyn on the way to class.

That was how as I tried calling a switched off phone one more time, the cake arrived, with Roselyn following close behind. Rose started smiling, already jumping into conclusion..I simply told her I was directing the girl to another class...her smile died instantly….for the first I was so glad it did, because it meant I still had the element of surprise.

When the time came, Esther came to our class like she wanted to borrow a textbook, and the whole class screamed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSELYN”.

She was so shocked and almost ran, thinking there was a fire..lol..she's always so dramatic.

She was so touched by the display that she gave Esther,Joy and I hugs, so tight we almost passed out. We all gathered outside to take pictures. She cut the cake, drinks and cake were shared and everyone was merry. It was all fun, but it wasn't the end.

We had another surprise party planned for her. By we I mean her closest friends her close friends(myself, Esther,Victor,Chinedu,ik,Joy and Happy)we all gathered funds and planned to take her out for lunch after the class party. we told her to get in the cab and the next stop was Chicken Republic. she was screamed from excitement, kept saying it was too much, and asking where we got money from. Honestly, we just put some money aside for this day, because she deserved it. We had lunch, and the waiters were kind enough to help us with music on their stereo system.

It was so much fun that the girls at the table next to ours asked if they could join in. It was so much fun that we forgot all the stress attached with being engineering students.


We were caught up in the fun that we forgot we had a report due for submission the next day. When we eventually realised the time we said our goodbyes, of course very tired..lol.

Right before I slept, I got a text from her saying, “ TO MY LOVELY FRIEND ,WORDS CANT EXPRESS IT NEITHER WILL TEARS. YOU ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO SURPRISE ME. YOU WERE SO STRESSED OUT TODAY JUST SO U COULD MAKE TODAY A MEMORABLE ONE FOR ME, I MADE YOU
SWEAT, AND THE TOT OF A SUCCESFUL BD FOR ME KEPT YOU FROM TAKING NOTE!WHAT IS MORE ONLY THAT GOD TOOK NOTE OF THIS DAY, AND WILL FORVER REMEMBER YOU IN BOUNTY. THANKS SWEEDY, 4 PUTTING A DEEP

yes yes, it was all in caps. Lol.

As I was writing this, I was as moved as the day it actually happened.I realised the significance of putting a smile on someone's face, and the good feeling accompanied with it.
