It's been ages since i was able to ate this kind of cuisine again. It's very rare in my place, commonly you can buy this on some province of the Philippines like Isabela , Bulacan but what I really knew is in the most province of Bicol, PH. My mom used to brought us that Tabagwang ( fresh water snail that has a conic spiraling black shell ) whenever she visits her province in Camarines Sur, Albay .
It's a very yummy creature when it is cook with coconut milk, we called it here Ginataang Tabagwang , adding vegetables like Malunggay( or Moringa ). Now, there already many styles of how to cook Tabagwang. But i really loved the ginataan style.
Today, my father brought this food but only almost a kilo because it sold fast in the market ( at least i could taste it ). And we're not going to cook a Ginataan, he will just simply boil it along with few ginger, onions and stalks of Malunggay.
I took a bath while my dad's cooking it, its only a matter of time to cook tabagwang. But after I done bathing, WTH !!! They are already eating that food, so I don't have the photo it. (darn) . Hahaha. They really dig fast. It was only few left for me, and I really forgot to show it to you guys.
You need to sip that creature outside of its shell for you to eat it, hassle ? yeah ! but it is really delicious when you guys taste it. You will forgot that you have a rice because you're so busy sipping it. . Don't think it was dirty, it was kept in a pail full of fresh water for several hours for the snails to expel all the dirt inside of its shell, also you should clean the shell and cutting the shell's tip, another thing, check for some smelly snails and discard it ( it was dead ).
I spend 30mins to ate all tabagwang they left for me, probably 20pcs of it. I had to used my bare hands eating my meal. If you're a FIlipino, you will love eating with your hands with that kind of food in your plate.
