Although it's National Heritage day and a public holiday in SA it's not one here in Mauritius!) Dang it!
Not sure where this photo originates from and I did edit it a bit with text and such
However we could celebrate with you by having a braai but not sure if I'll get to it tonight but if I don't; be sure to braai for our sakes too! I can at least chug some wine to celebrate.
This morning consisted of bussing into town to meet the girl-child to run some errands and then back home to await the plumber that was supposed to have come last week. Fun fun fun. At least today he pitched up.
Whilst waiting I got up to some other mischief.
Organizing kitchen stuffs
It's only taken almost nine months to collect my big glass jars for storing dry stuffs. I flatly refuse to buy any unnecessary stuff for our rental as I'm always thinking ahead of what I'm leaving behind so we buy only the really necessary things and go without the rest or be like a real boere-chick and make a plan. The kids hate the mayo that comes in the big jars but seeing for some reason our favorite Cross and Blackwell Mayo doesn't remotely taste the same as back home we buy whatever one is on the shelf but mom prefers the red lid ones so I can have the jar... 😂
My glass jar collection. Economical and eco-friendly
Anyhow today I capitulated and bought some plastic containers for the spices and stuff which comes in little plastic packets and irritates the crap out of me always messing, always spilling out in the drawer and difficult to work with whilst cooking. So there.
The girl-child was snarky and said I resemble a real 1950's housewife with my flowery print dress busy in the kitchen... 😂 I gave her an appropriate 'voetsek'!!!! @chekohler you would understand as would @joetunex as the both of you come from my home country. 😂 My kids. Just gotta love them. ❤️
Anyhow. I wish you all a beautiful day! If you're in South Africa may those fires burn high, the meat be tender and the beers cold.❤️
all photos are my own except the heritage day one at the top

😂 😂 Hubby tells them 'tsek.. It's a big joke going in our house. Like you say, keeps us humble.. ☺️ Thanks for stopping by ☺️

On that note. I'm in Cape Town over December and Jan. Perhaps we can do a steemit meetup? 🤔 I know there's one or two others close by too?

Lol... You don't live in South Africa without having to use the word "voetsek" at one time or the other.
Thanks for the wishes I'm having a rather quite and relaxed indoor one😃

seeing all those spices just made me crave for curry, especially the cinnamon, I hope you are enjoying your day so far!
Hi there thank you for stopping by. Yes, Mauritius is a curry and chili haven with all the available spices. ☺️
