My opinion on this fight first of all...
Conor McGregor has NO CHANCE at beating Floyd Mayweather at boxing
Whether Conor McGregor knows it or not, he is being paid to lose a boxing match. This payment will be very big, possibly $100 million for him win or lose. So it appears to be a win win situation for Conor McGregor.
Floyd Mayweather is in an exhibition fight which could be worth $1 billion
This is nothing more an an exhibition match similar to Ali vs Inaki. But this will be a fun exhibition match and because it will be fun people will pay to see it. It is not going to effect the legacy of Mayweather and I'm not even sure if the fight will be in the official rankings, but it will be entertaining I think and will make a lot of money.
Yes agreed. Everyone would love to fight floyd for 100 millions. It's riskier for Floyd so he will be paid more. Fair enough. I am guessing Floyd win by Decision. Don't wanna KO Conor too early, to keep the chances of MMA fighters beating boxers, so there will be some more fights like this in the future worth billions
I think we'll be surprised! I feel like Conor's going to have an awkward enough style to put Floyd in some uncomforatble positions. The power and size advantage falls into Conors ballpark.

Interesting. Most people that love boxing that I know are hating this fight. They think it's disrespectful to boxing.
Given the terms of the contract restricting them to boxing (as I have heard it), it is kind of like the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors taking on the 8th seed in the East's bench players only.

Yeah, it's not like they won't be watching either, right. Haha. It's just that most boxers will never even be able to sniff Floyd's boxers, and yet this 'amateur' boxer is being given the opportunity.
It will be interesting to see if McGregor can resist using other MMA techniques and just box.
In the fight contract, there are financial penalties imposed upon McGregor if he uses MMA moves.
I imagine for him, MMA is like muscle memory.
It's like trying not to blink when something comes close to your eye.
Which may make him "tight" in the ring. He doesn't want to do anything that puts his $100MM payday at risk!
Joe Rogan was musing on that on his podcast. He was saying that if it DID happen, Floyd would get messed up like he's never been.

I wholeheartedly agree that Mcgregor has no chance in a boxing match, Floyd is way too slick, too fast, and too skillful. I think Mcgregor will go to throw a punch and Floyd just won't be there. BUT, if Conor does by some miracle land that left of his, it could be tickets for Floyd - and if there is anyone in the world that could pull off such a miracle - that would be Mcgregor. The chances of McGregor winning are vanishingly small. Its basically like putting a champion crossfitter against a champion weightlifter in a weightlifting competition. Barring a complete fluke the crossfitter would never win. Same with McGregor. It's not even a competition.
This fight is the same as if Terrell Owens played basketball against micheal Jordan it's a cash grab I don't think mcgregor can't go toe to toe with mayweather in boxing ring but that goes vice versa mayweather would get tooled on in a mma fight
I'm hoping to make some money off of the no-thinking, betting-with-their-heart folks who put money on McGregor early. The betting line for Mayweather got pushed down quickly early, because of the MMA-fan, Irish-prider, simply-racist, or simply not-too-smart bettors getting in early and often. Now, it appears as though the line has settled down.
Right now might be a good time to put some money on Mayweather (line is at -600 at Bovada at the time of this posting), before the smart money comes in and makes his line more expensive again. This is simply a money grab for both guys, and everyone knows it. Might as well grab some money for myself while we're at it!
Definetly Mayweather is in a way better position than Conor. But you should never underestimate Irish fighter with a heart of a lion. No doubt that this will be a great show to watch as both of them are great fighters and entertainers. I am really looking forward to this match
Yeah boxing isn't Mcgregor's natural habitat, so he will probably get destroyed lol. This fight will be interesting regardless because of the exuberant personalities of these guys.
Pride is going to fuck with Conor the night of the fight and he's going to launch Floyd into the 3rd row with "Fook dat guy!" And be the hugest thing ever in sports.

In boxing, Mayweather will win easily. If combat would be Ultimate Fighting Championship, McGregor would crush to Mayweather in five seconds. This fight will be for Money Mayweather 100%.
Of course, just see what happened to James Toney when he tried MMA. Boxers have no ability to fight on the ground and only can use striking. There have been boxers who have won a few fights at MMA but only because the MMA fighters decided to try to box them.

Honestly, I can't believe all of the people on TV that are actually trying to act like Conor should have something of a chance. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that when people are trying to hurt eachother, anything can happen.
Even people that often have respectable opinions are playing into the "Conor has a chance" talk. I get it, this is the highest paid combat fight ever.... EVER! But thats no different than thinking Michael Jordan was going to be the best baseball player ever when he tried out MLB.
Mayweather has beat the best of the best every single time. He has trained his whole life in one specific discipline, he has spent so much more time than Conor training in this specific skill. While Conor has divided up his time to make sure he is multi-skilled since he is in the mixed martial arts arena.
I watched Floyd fight many times, we all understand how defensive he is. It was dissapointing to me to hear Skip Bayless and Joe Rogan hyping this shit like Conor has a chance. His only real chance is to KO floyd in the first 4 rounds. They act like Conor is 15 lbs heavier than Floyd, that's not the case. Maybe he has broader shoulders, but that doesn't help to increase his boxing skills. This event is just so hyped up to try to justify the rediculous ticket/viewing prices. Conor has a lot more to gain than Floyd in my opinion, but who wouldn't risk their perfect record to gain 500 Million?
I think it will be long, I think Floyd is going to play extremely defensive, like he does. I think Conor will be cautious, he knows Floyd is unlikely to KO him but also knows that he is a very talented counter puncher, he will not be rushing at Floyd like a bull in a china shop. First couple rounds will go to Floyd in points and it will slowly go downhill from there. Conor will show that he is gassing much earlier than Floyd and once you see the fatigue, I believe the writing is on the wall. I think this fight is going to be no where near as exciting as watching him vs Pacquiao.

To be really honest, I don't care so much about the fight, I just want to see the trash talk more and more. It's a win/win for McGregor. 100 million to support your new born baby, and probably quit MMA to stop yourself from getting in danger and long term injuries. He's being a real good dad.

Think about it, hours and hours of tape on floyd and zero on Mcgregor.. Conor is probably devouring this footage 24/7. Pretty sure he knows he can't out box him, which leads me to believe hes developing multiple strategies to catch Floyd in scenarios where he can capitalize. These strategies go beyond the ring btw, psychological games being the biggest.
Win win situation for McGregor. Everyone expects him to lose and even if he does, this will be by far his biggest payday. Would rather McGregor defend his UFC featherweight and lightweight belt at least once to be honest instead of jumping straight to boxing.

Mayweather is the better boxer, but has to loose to much - not even him alone, the whole boxing union could be disgraced. McGregor is young, hot and dangerous. Even if boxing is not his main sports, he has good chances to make some trouble. But in the end, like I now the game, Mayweather will win. It's too much money in here that the referees could let it happen, that McGregor will dishonor boxing. The only way McGregor could win, is with a lucky punch and Mayweather gets K.O. That seems pretty unlikely, or what do you think?

I 100% agree with this! They both know that they are in it for the paycheck. I like McGregor, but he has zero chance beating Mayweather in a boxing match. Floyd is one of the greatest defending boxers ever and has master his craft of just boxing everyday for years. McGregor is one of the best MMA fighters in the world, but is a completely different style of fighter. He hasn't spent his whole life only boxing.
The same is true if you were to flip the cards. Put Mayweather in the octagon and he would have no chance at beating McGregor.
They just both know that they will be able to get a much bigger paycheck if they go the boxing route.
Either way I'm still going to watch it. I've been taking bets from all my UFC friends that Mayweather is going to win and I don't think it will be a contest.
I love boxing, but I have to say that I have mixed feelings about this fight.
I think it would be an entertaining event to watch and I definitely will watch it. The problem that I have is that Mayweather is in his area of comfort which is boxing and McGregor is accustomed to fighting using MMA techniques. I do see Mayweather winning this fight for that reason. Had they been fighting in the octagon I would see McGregor winning.
Yes! I can't wait for this fight! It's been hyped so much since last year and I actually think Connor has a chance. He's a good well rounded fighter and is so precise with his attacks. It will definitely be interesting to see
Absolutely agree. Conor has ZERO chance but he can promote a fight and himself. He makes about $8 million a fight now according to Dana White so there is no way he could turn down $100 million. And some say in his inner circle he may never fight again after the fight.
I saw a an interview with Teddy Atlas months ago saying Conor should pick him up and body slam him. Get DQ and garner a rematch. Joe Rogan recently said Conor would be come a legend if he just kicked Mayweather in the head! LOL...It will be fun to watch. I live in Vegas but I think I will watch it comfortably from my home on PPV for likely $100 lol. As opposed to squeezing into T-Mobile arena which will likely have over 15,000 people in attendance .
Some interesting betting options too, like if Conor will land more than 25 punches. Will be fun.
What will happen is we will see more talk of Connor and his progress as a boxer, and we'll see some fancy sparring and training footage so that odds tighten up a lot. We will hear rumors about Floyd looking slow, old, etc. ESPN and FOXsports etc will float these rumors through their echo chambers. The betting public, McGregor lovers, casual fans, racists (racists love rooting against Floyd), and the Irish who's luck will not have their back this time, will all bet on Conor. Only to lose all of their money, smart money bets Floyd.

The only Reason Mayweather has gone this long without losing is because every time he starts taking a beating he grapples his opponent or runs from him. Needs to be like it was in the old days where they stood and fought for win.

McGregor will make it a good match given his heart. However, lets be serious, this is Boxing and not UFC. That's like expecting Mayweather to have a shot in the Octagon. When it comes to the technical aspect of the game, what to look for, anticipation, chess moves etc., this is what will separate the two and why Mayweather has the clear path at a victory.
